MAKING COMMITMENTS WITHOUT KEEPING THEM
Proverbs 13:5 (AMPC)
“A [consistently] righteous man hates lying and deceit, but a wicked man is loathsome [his very breath spreads pollution] and he comes [surely] to shame.”
Dear people of God, a true test of a person’s character is his ability to keep commitments once made.
Many people do not realize that failure to keep your word on any matter whatsoever simply amounts to lying and the Bible says all liars will go to HELL – Revelation 21:8, 27.
Whether it is a pledge you made in Church or to a worthy cause, a promise to a friend, relative, spouse, sibling or colleague in the office, you must keep your word otherwise you are heading to an eternal damnation if you fail to repent, confess and make amends as applicable.
Nowadays, it means nothing for people to make a commitment and break it.
This is why politicians all over the world are notorious for saying things they would never do but keep coming back during election periods to make more commitments they have no intention whatsoever of keeping.
What about men and women people who promise marriage to would-have-been partners and then bolt away on some flimsy excuse without fulfilling it?
Many years ago I once borrowed money from a friend when things were rough for me and when God lifted me, I promptly paid back and my friend made a shocking statement that I was the first person to ever pay back money he had loaned out.
This statement from my friend was shocking because I never expected people to be that bad but my personal experience has shown me that majority of people who borrow money from you have no intention of paying back.
Unfortunately, they have placed themselves under a curse that only they can remove and it is simply for them to return the money they “stole” in the name of borrowing.
In marriage, a man and woman come together in a vow before God to remain faithful and loyal to each other.
Few months or years down the line, either the man or woman or both partners break their marital vows through adultery with strangers, thus dishonouring their vow and also inflicting themselves with demons and passing these demons to their legitimate partners.
This is why there is a common saying that it is ONLY a woman that knows the father of her children because some women shamelessly cheat on their spouses they have vowed before God to marital fidelity.
When you enter churches, the story is the same, for many priests, pastors and preachers of the Gospel deliberately deceive their congregation through sexual immorality and financial fraud.
They engage in sexual immorality with their members and also divert church funds to personal use whilst claiming to be serving the interest of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Even when God says He hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), you find pastors who tell lies even against God, claiming that God told them to divorce their wives and marry another person.
Some even actively encourage and support marital separation and divorce of married couples in violation of God’s law.
What about those who go to preach the Gospel to strangers and collect “offering” in the process? There are some who minister the FREE spiritual gifts of God and charge money for it, despite the warning from the Lord Jesus Christ against such despicable behaviour as recorded in Matthew 10:8.
Are they now the owner of the spiritual gifts they are selling to others?
Have they suddenly forgotten the story in Acts 8:9-24 of Simon, formerly a sorcerer turned Christian believer who wanted to buy God’s FREE spiritual gifts with money from the Apostles Peter and Philip for him to use to minister to people?
Did Peter not rebuke him and warn him to repent of his evil mischief before the anger of God descended on him?
If therefore you cannot buy God’s FREE spiritual gifts with money, why then are today’s charlatan gospel ministers violating their commitment by selling God’s FREE spiritual gifts to others for money?
Do these people really think God is unaware of these ungodly acts?
Notice I did not mention men of God because they would do no such thing as a result of their fear of God and the consequences of violating their commitments to God’s commandments.
Dear friend, you can only deceive yourself and humans but you can NEVER deceive Almighty God and Father of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
If you have formed the ungodly habit of making commitments you have no intention of keeping whether to God or man, today and now is a call for you to repent genuinely, confess your sins to God and make restitution to God and man where applicable, before it is too late for you.
Know today that God is not mocked, for you will surely reap whatever you have sown in falsehood – Galatians 6:7.
I will conclude with a Scripture in Proverbs 12:22 (AMP), “Lying lips are extremely disgusting to the Lord, But those who deal faithfully (truthfully) are His delight.”
Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.
