Of God and Mankind

There are people who pray to God on a matter and usually end it with the phrase, “please grant this request if it is according to your will.” Let us see what the Bible says in 1 John 5:14-15, “And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. 15 And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.” Drawing from this Scripture reference, we know for sure that God’s will is His own plan and that God would grant any prayer that is according to His will. Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden  and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. Many Christian parents leave the responsibility of teaching God’s Word to their children to the church and the school their kids attend. These parents give excuse that they are so busy chasing material things with which to take care of their families and so there is very little time to engage in spiritual activities. Let us examine God’s Word in Deuteronomy 6:5-9, “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being and with all your might. 6 And these words which I am commanding you this day shall be [first] in your [own] minds  and hearts; [then] 7 You shall whet  and sharpen them so as to make them penetrate,  and teach  and impress them diligently upon the [minds and] hearts of your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up. 8 And you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be ...

God has told us NOT to live by bread alone but by every Word He has spoken – Deuteronomy 8:3b; Matthew 4:4. In other words, a human being should live, be upheld and sustained by God’s Word as the Amplified version of the Holy Bible puts it. As Christians, it is so easy to miss this very important point in our relationship with God as our Father especially in times of difficulties. You find many people who look in every direction except the Word of God for solution to their problems. They tell themselves that after all, their past experience has shown that when they prayed to God, He did not answer so why bother Him? Dear friend, this is the very position the devil wants every child of God to reach, which is to rely on your own strength, advice and understanding as against the infallible Word of God.
