Proverbs 16:5-6 (AMPC) “ Everyone proud and arrogant in heart is disgusting, hateful, and exceedingly offensive to the Lord; be assured [I pledge it] they will not go unpunished.  Proverbs 14:31; 17:5 (AMPC) “ He who oppresses the poor reproaches, mocks,  and insults his Maker, but he who is kind  and merciful to the needy honors Him (God).” [Prov. 17:5; Matt. 25:40, 45.] “ Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker, and he who is glad at calamity shall not be held innocent or go unpunished.” [Job 31:29; Prov. 14:31; Obad. 12.] Dear people of God, today’s lead Holy Bible is a serious warning to people who oppress others and people who rejoice at the calamity that befalls others. With the level of wickedness and atrocities some commit against others in today’s world, it is very reassuring to note that the oppressed person has the Ultimate Being, God Almighty and Father of my Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ as His Consolation. 1 John 3:13-15 (NKJV) 13 Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you.  14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love  his  brother abides in death.  15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. Dear people of God, Christians who pray for their human enemies to die are praying out of ignorance and in direct contrast to what the Lord Jesus Christ commanded. The reason such Christians pray this way is because according to them their human enemy does not wish them well and wants them to suffer and even to die. These Christians are stating the obvious but reacting in sin. Such folks forget that non-Christians are under the influence of the devil, who is the god of this world – 2 Corinthians 4:4.
