A WARNING TO OPPRESSORS OF THE POOR AND NEEDY

 Proverbs 14:31; 17:5 (AMPC)

“He who oppresses the poor reproaches, mocks, and insults his Maker, but he who is kind and merciful to the needy honors Him (God).” [Prov. 17:5; Matt. 25:40, 45.]

“Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker, and he who is glad at calamity shall not be held innocent or go unpunished.” [Job 31:29; Prov. 14:31; Obad. 12.]

Dear people of God, today’s lead Holy Bible is a serious warning to people who oppress others and people who rejoice at the calamity that befalls others.

With the level of wickedness and atrocities some commit against others in today’s world, it is very reassuring to note that the oppressed person has the Ultimate Being, God Almighty and Father of my Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ as His Consolation.

At every level of society in different nations of the world we read, see and hear of:

ü  governments oppressing their own citizens,

ü  governments oppressing foreign residents of nations whose governments have no regard for their citizens

ü  employers oppressing their employees

ü  supervisors oppressing their subordinates

ü  home owners oppressing their domestic staff

ü  pastors oppressing their congregation

ü  criminals abducting and oppressing their victims

ü  rebels against governments oppressing the people of the vicinity where they carry out their nefarious activities

ü  armed robbers oppressing their victims

ü  rapists oppressing their victims

ü  teachers oppressing their students

ü  and the list goes on and on and on

What oppressors fail to realize is that every human being is destined to die and give account of their actions on earth to God Who would reward every one of us individually according to our deeds here – Romans 14:12-13.

Oppressors have allowed themselves to be used by the devil to fulfil his evil mission to kill, steal and destroy, just as the Lord Jesus Christ tells us in John 10:10a.

Are oppressors excused because the devil is the one using them to perpetrate their acts of evil and sin against God and humans? Certainly not.

Every human being created by God has a soul – the mind, will and emotion. With this, they choose freely to behave the way they want even when their conscience condemns them against evil acts, so they are without excuse of any kind.

Just as they have decided and continue to do evil of their own free will, so they can decide to repent and do good by obeying God to live right and show love to others.

If you reading this piece has the habit of oppressing others, know today that you are reproaching, insulting and mocking God Who created you and the persons you are oppressing. You know what is right and it is in your own power to do what is right before God and humans.

For those who take delight in calamity that befalls others, God’s Word today tells you that you shall NOT be held innocent neither shall you go unpunished so how would your rejoicing over the downfall of others benefit you?

Where are the past political leaders of nations who were oppressors of their citizens? Where is Adolf Hitler of Germany, Josef Stalin of former Soviet Union, Benito Mussolini of Italy, Sani Abacha of Nigeria, Idi Amin of Uganda, Mobutu Sese-Seko of Democratic Republic of Congo, Saddam Hussein of Iraq, Muammar Ghaddafi of Libya and recently Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi?

They are all dead and remembered only for their notoriety.

Dear friend, the Bible tells us in Psalm 62:11-12 (AMPC), “God has spoken once, twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God.

12 Also to You, O Lord, belong mercy and loving-kindness, for You render to every man according to his work. [Jer. 17:10; Rev. 22:12.]

Even if you believe you have escaped man’s judgement for your evil acts like Adolf Hitler who committed suicide, you can NEVER escape God’s judgement.

What Hitler succeeded in doing in taking his own life was committing murder and sending himself to an eternal damnation in HELL where he has been since 1945 and is still there today and will forever be there by his own making.

Do not send yourself to an eternal damnation by your relentless oppression of others when it is in your power to do good to them.

Repent today, confess sin and evil, turn to Jesus Christ and make Him your Saviour and Lord by righteous and uncompromising obedience to His commandments by showing genuine love to others in your actions before it is too late for you.

Always remember that Jesus Christ is coming NOW to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.

Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.
