THE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH CHRISTIANITY IS BUILT

God has told us in the Holy Bible how to recognize a genuine prophet from Him (God), which is in Deuteronomy 18:22, “ When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or prove true, that is a word which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. ” Now, the Lord Jesus Christ while on earth here as a human being made several claims that He was going to suffer at the hands of the Jewish leaders of that time, be put to death and that He would rise again from death. Jesus had 12 Apostles who heard Him say this and Jesus proved He was from God through the many outstanding miracles He performed and many disciples saw this and believed Him. The time eventually came for Christ’s prophesy of His torture, death and resurrection and this also happened as He had predicted. This was proof to all that Jesus Christ was truly Who He claimed – the Son of God, the Messiah, the Saviour of the Universe. ...

A CHRISTIAN’S AUTHORITY OVER UNCLEAN SPIRITS

The Holy Bible tells us in Matthew 10:1 (AMPC), “ AND JESUS summoned to Him His twelve disciples and gave them power  and authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out, and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of weakness  and infirmity. ” The Bible contains several evidences where the Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ exercised this authority over unclean spirits and cured sicknesses and diseases – Luke 10:17, Acts 3:1-10; Acts 5:12-15; Acts 19:11-12. Now, this tells anyone reading that since the Lord Jesus gave His Apostles authority and power to drive out unclean spirit and cure all manner of sickness and diseases, it means sicknesses and diseases are not from God but from the devil. It is therefore a wrong statement for anyone to attribute the cause of sicknesses and diseases to God because God cures sicknesses and diseases as a proof of His love for His children. However, there are many Christians today who believe that this power and auth...

THE TALE BEARER AND THE FALSE TESTIFIER

There are some people who want to make new friendship or sustain an existing one but the other person just isn’t interested. The friend-seeker may even go to extra length to cook up stories to attract the attention of their target friend. Another group of people have the habit of wanting to be the first to give a breaking news about some event and without taking time to find out the authenticity of the news item, they quickly go about spreading the information they just received. Eventually, they get to discover that the information was false and they react either by remorse or shrugging off the information and moving on to the next great news to spread. For some others, it may be their rival or enemy is in some kind of trouble and it is confirmed to be true. The tale bearer having known relishes the thought of telling about the enemy’s troubles to anyone who cares to listen and quickly rushes to do just that. In fact, it gives him so much joy and a sense of “victory” to...

GOD IS ANGRY WITH THE WICKED

The Word of God tells us in Psalm 7:11 (KJV), “ God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. ” It is possible a person may assume the word wicked in the above Scripture verse to refer only to someone who commits an atrocious act against another person or group of persons, and rightly so. The person may say, well, that does not refer to me since I am in right standing with God. However, since the Word of God tells us that God is angry with the wicked every day, let us look at some examples of the wicked, some which would be glaring and some not so glaring but indeed very serious too: (1)         The wicked is anyone who discriminates against others on the basis of ethnic nationality (race), skin colour, tribe, social status, economic status, physical attributes, political status, religion, etc. (2)         The wicked is the preacher of the Gospel, married or unmarried ...

DO YOU MOCK PEOPLE WHO SERVE GOD?

Many years ago when I would hear bad singing in Church, I would laugh at the poor singing or poor singing voice. When I heard a preacher of the Gospel use bad English, I would equally laugh and mock. How foolish I was back then. These people were using their talents to serve God while I was busy mocking them. I had the same God-given talents, just like everyone else created by God, but I never used mine then to serve God. Dear friend, it is a sin to mock anyone using his or her talent to serve God.   The Word of God tells us in Ephesians 5:4, “ Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency) nor foolish  and sinful (silly and corrupt) talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting  o becoming; but instead voice your thankfulness [to God]. ” We see a typical example of this in the case of Israel’s second king David and his wife Michal, daughter of Israel’s first king Saul. David was in the public dancing and praising God as the Ark of God was...
