DO YOU MOCK PEOPLE WHO SERVE GOD?

Many years ago when I would hear bad singing in Church, I would laugh at the poor singing or poor singing voice.

When I heard a preacher of the Gospel use bad English, I would equally laugh and mock.

How foolish I was back then.

These people were using their talents to serve God while I was busy mocking them. I had the same God-given talents, just like everyone else created by God, but I never used mine then to serve God.

Dear friend, it is a sin to mock anyone using his or her talent to serve God.  The Word of God tells us in Ephesians 5:4, Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency) nor foolish and sinful (silly and corrupt) talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting o becoming; but instead voice your thankfulness [to God].

We see a typical example of this in the case of Israel’s second king David and his wife Michal, daughter of Israel’s first king Saul.

David was in the public dancing and praising God as the Ark of God was brought into the city while Michal his spouse watched from the palace. When David got home, Michal mocked him about how he shamelessly danced in public even before the maidens.

David amongst other words responded that he would continue to dance for the Lord even if it meant to humble himself but he would be held in honour before the maidens.

The Bible records further that Michal had not children till the day of her death! You can see the story in 2 Samuel 6:14-23.

Dear friend, God judges our motives. If you will not serve God, please do not mock those who serve Him because God views it very seriously.

However, I must warn you that it is grave danger not to serve God because God created us for that very purpose, which is to love Him, serve Him and do His will in this world and to be with Him forever in the world to come.

You can only serve God through the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour and Messiah and by no other means. Please repent if you have been mocking those who serve God genuinely.

Most importantly, make up your mind to genuinely love and serve God and please start today and now, for tomorrow may be too late.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.

Gabriel Ama.
