FAITH COMES FROM HEARING GOD’S WORD

Romans 10:17 (AMPC) “17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).”   Dear people of God, at times a Christian can become discouraged from the many challenges he faces on a daily basis especially in Africa where a lot of lawlessness and injustice is meted out by the political authorities and their agents/representatives to hapless citizens.   So what can one do in such situations? I tell you the truth, dear friend, the Word of God in the Holy Bible is all we should look to for succour.   Anytime I feel a little overwhelmed, I look up to God’s Word for encouragement and strength to carry on because the Lord Jesus Himself tells us in Matthew 11:28-29, “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]   29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, ...

TOLERANCE IN MARRIAGE (3)

1 Peter 3:7 (AMPC) “7 In the same way you married men should live considerately with [your wives], with an intelligent recognition [of the marriage relation], honouring the woman as [physically] the weaker, but [realizing that you] are joint heirs of the grace (God's unmerited favor) of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered and cut off. [Otherwise you cannot pray effectively.]”   Dear people of God, in the first part of the post on this topic, we looked at abusive marriages, what causes it and how to have a healthy Christian marriage.   In the second part of the message, we examined the issues of submission to husbands for the wives and loving the wives as Christ loved the Church for the husbands as prescribed in the infallible Word of God.   In today’s third part of the message, we will be examining how intolerance can affect a Christian marriage and the prayer life challenge it poses.   There are some men in marriage who view the wom...

TOLERANCE IN MARRIAGE (2)

Ephesians 5:22-26 (AMPC) “22 Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord.   23 For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the church, Himself the Savior of [His] body.   24 As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.   25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her,   26 So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word,”   Dear people of God, today’s lead Holy Bible text is a bit of a challenge for many a couple in their marriage in this generation.   You hear the man say he will not love his wife if she fails to submit as the Bible says, while the woman says she will not submit to her husband if he fails to love her as Christ loves the Church.   So who is right and who is wrong? To answer that question, I want you ...

TOLERANCE IN MARRIAGE

Ephesians 4:30-32 (AMPC) “30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God's own, secured) for the day of redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin).   31 Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind).   32 And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you.     Dear people of God, a man and a woman come together and decide they want to become a couple, get married and raise a family. They start out with so much love for each o...
