THE WORD “IF” SIGNIFIES DOUBT OR UNBELIEF

Mark 5:25-29, 34 25 And there was a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 And who had endured much suffering under [the hands of] many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was no better but instead grew worse. 27 She had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment, 28 For she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health. 29 And immediately her flow of blood was dried up at the source, and [suddenly] she felt in her body that she was healed of her [distressing] ailment. 34  And He (Jesus) said to her, Daughter, your faith (your trust and confidence in Me, springing from faith in God) has restored you to health. Go in (into) peace and be continually healed  and freed from your [distressing bodily] disease. Dear people of God, today we want to look at a word Christians use carelessly that hinders them from getting what t...

RESPECT FOR THE LORD’S ANOINTED

1 Samuel 26:8-9  “Then said Abishai to David, God has given your enemy into your hands this day. Now therefore let me smite him to the earth at once with one stroke of the spear, and I will not strike him twice. 9 David said to Abishai, Do not destroy him; for who can raise his hand against the Lord's anointed and be guiltless?” Dear people of God, today’s lead Holy Bible text references the conversation David had with one of his men when they had opportunity to strike and kill Saul, the then king of Israel who all this while had been trying to kill David out of envy for David’s successes in battles with Israel’s enemies. Despite the fact that David had two clear opportunities to strike and kill Saul (see the first one in 1 Samuel 24:1-11), he refused because he recognised Saul the king as the Lord’s anointed and gave him that respect. All this is in spite of the fact that Saul consistently sought to kill David. What was David’s offence? It is not as if David ...

ABRAHAM: A MAN OF GREAT FAITH

It is possible for one to read the story of Abraham in the Bible casually and not benefit from the far reaching value of the great faith he had. In our time, we have the Holy Bible to consult as a valuable resource to study how Abraham and other people walked with God in great faith. However, in Abraham’s time, what was his reference? He only relied on what God told him, which today is very difficult for so many people because they think God is a man who can tell lies and break promises and so they refuse to trust God to take Him at His Word. Let us first of all consider the fact that Abraham came from a family background of idol worshippers who had never known the Almighty God and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ – Joshua 24:2. One day, Abraham heard God’s voice and obeyed God’s command to leave all his family and move to an unknown location far away. Can you just imagine how Abraham’s relatives would have taken the message and wondered what he could ...

GRANTING PERMISSION TO RECEIVE AFFLICTION

Every affliction that befalls a human being is caused by the devil. Many people, especially Christians, are familiar with the fact that sin opens the door for satan to enter to cause affliction in a person’s life. We see an example of this in the life of the man at the pool of Bethesda whom the Lord Jesus Christ cured of an affliction he suffered for 38 years. Not long after curing the man, the Jewish authorities were questioning the man on his healing and then the Lord Jesus found him shortly after and had this conversation with him again in John 5:14, “ Afterward, when Jesus found him in the temple, He said to him, See, you are well! Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you. Clearly, we see here that when someone commits sin, he exposes himself and gives a legal right to satan to afflict him with an infirmity. However, it is pertinent to note that it is not always sin that opens up a person to satan’s legal right to afflict him or her. This means a person,...

DISOBEDIENCE – THE PROBLEM WITH THE WORLD

Proverbs 1:22-33  22 How long, O simple ones [open to evil], will you love being simple? And the scoffers delight in scoffing and [self-confident] fools hate knowledge? 23 If you will turn (repent)  and give heed to my reproof, behold, I [Wisdom] will pour out My Spirit upon you, I will make My Words known to you. 24 Because I have called and you have refused [to answer], have stretched out My hand and no man has heeded it, 25 And you treated as nothing all My counsel and would accept none of My reproof, 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when the thing comes that shall cause you terror  and panic– 27 When your panic comes as a storm  and desolation and your calamity comes on as a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. 28 Then will they call upon Me [Wisdom] but I will not answer; they will seek Me early  and diligently but they will not find Me. 29 Because they hat...
