Dear friend, a lot of times you hear people speak of a fear of the unknown. According to such people, unknown stands for what the future holds for them. Now, because they are not sure of their future, they live in fear and this fear influence their daily decisions and some even engage in despicable acts that run contrary to God’s expectation of His children who profess Christ. Dear friends, I know the topic of today’s message sounds strange but it is necessary to ask this question because of the way some professing Christians behave. When a Pharisee who was a lawyer asked the Lord Jesus Christ which was the greatest commandment of God, this is what the Lord responded as stated in Matthew 22:37-40, “ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect). [Deut. 6:5.] 38 This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as [you do] yourself. A number of people, Christians inclusive, are expressing surprise at the escalating level of violence, poverty and evil in the present days. In fact, reports have it that nationals of so called third world countries are migrating legally and illegally in droves to so called “safe haven” nations of the world in Europe and North America. Unfortunately for these legal and illegal migrants, however, even these safe haven countries do not guarantee any safety from evil as we also read almost on a daily basis of stabbings, mass shootings, car drive killings, racism happening in these countries. Nowhere appears to be safe even when some claim they would rather run to the safe haven countries to escape the issues of their own nations like a friend of mine told me earlier today as we conversed over the telephone. Every Christian in this world was at one time a sinner living a godless life. However, a day came when God Almighty and Father of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ intervened in the sinner’s life. The sinner then repented of the sinful life, confessed sin to God with a promise never to go back again to sin, forsook sin, accepted the Lordship of Jesus as Messiah and made a conscious effort at obeying all of God’s commandments in the Holy Bible. God did this because He loves you whom He has made a Christian. However, I must tell you that God’s saving grace came into your life as a result of prayer made by someone or some persons you either know or do not know. If that did not happen, chances are that you would still be leading a sinful life in disobedience to God’s commandments and if you had died in such lifestyle, you would have gone to an eternal damnation in HELL.
