DID GOD NOT WARN US ABOUT THE ESCALATING EVIL OF THE LAST DAYS?
A number of people, Christians inclusive, are expressing
surprise at the escalating level of violence, poverty and evil in the present
days.
In fact, reports have it that nationals of so called third
world countries are migrating legally and illegally in droves to so called “safe
haven” nations of the world in Europe and North America.
Unfortunately for these legal and illegal migrants, however, even
these safe haven countries do not guarantee any safety from evil as we also
read almost on a daily basis of stabbings, mass shootings, car drive killings, racism
happening in these countries.
Nowhere appears to be safe even when some claim they would
rather run to the safe haven countries to escape the issues of their own
nations like a friend of mine told me earlier today as we conversed over the
telephone.
Let us see what the Word of
God says about these last days in Matthew 24:4-7 (AMPC), “Be
careful that no one misleads you [deceiving you and leading you into error].
5 For
many will come in (on the strength of) My name [appropriating the name which
belongs to Me], saying, I am the Christ (the Messiah), and they will lead many
astray.
6 And
you will hear of wars and rumours of wars; see that you are not
frightened or troubled,
for this must take place, but the end is not yet.
7 For
nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be
famines and earthquakes in place after place;”
Let us consider another
Scripture text in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (AMPC), “BUT UNDERSTAND this,
that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and
hard to bear].
2 For
people will be lovers of self and[utterly]
self-centered, lovers of money and
aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will
be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful,
unholy and profane.
3 [They
will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless
(admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false
accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and
conduct, uncontrolled and fierce,
haters of good.
4 [They
will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They
will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.
5 For
[although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it
[their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession]. Avoid [all] such
people [turn away from them].”
These Scriptures written over 1,900 years ago but we are
seeing evidence of them happening even before our very eyes!
Since God has told us these things must happen, why are we
surprised that they are happening?
What we should do is that the Word of God says - first and most importantly, we should not be
frightened or troubled; we should avoid those who engage in such despicable
acts. The Bible does not tell us to hate them but to avoid them so we must be
clear on this point as Christians.
We are to preach the Word of God to all such people so it
would serve as a witness to them that they need to repent so they do not end up
perishing in eternal damnation should they die in sin or remain in sin when the
Lord Jesus Christ returns to take His ready children in Rapture.
Of equal importance is the fact that Jesus Christ my Lord is
coming and His coming is imminent. We must as Christians be prepared for His
coming otherwise we risk missing the Rapture and also entering an eternal
damnation in HELL. God forbid such a thing of sorrow.
Yes, we can make such declaration and it is absolutely in
order to do so. Beyond that, however, we must back our declaration with
genuine, well-intentioned action by ensuring our steps or lives are firmly established
in the infallible Light of God’s Word so we do not go astray.
We must study God’s Word on a regular daily schedule, meditate
on it and we must consciously determine to live and indeed live in righteous
obedience to God’s commandments as the only guarantee of safety in the Lord in
this fallen world.
Strive, dear friend, to live right before God no matter how
distressing and tempting a situation you encounter as a Christian. It is for
your own good for heaven records every activity we undertake and this record
would be shown to us as indisputable proof of our conduct here on earth
individually and collectively.
Non-Christians must not delay to come to Christ Jesus Who
Alone is the guarantee of safety and victory over all the pressures of this
world and an eternal life in the afterlife.
A Word is enough for the wise.
May the good Lord bless
you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most
Holy Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
