  Deuteronomy 5:9b-10    “ for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,   10 And showing mercy  and steadfast love to thousands  and to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.”   Dear people of God, there are some Christians who are of the view that the above Scripture does not apply to Christians since we are now operating under the New Testament and that the Lord Jesus Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.   One could even rightly reference the infallible Word of God in the Bible to buttress this point whilst quoting what God says in Ezekiel 18:20 (AMPC), “ The soul that sins, it [is the one that] shall die. 1 Peter 4:3-5 (GNBK) “ You have spent enough time in the past doing what the heathen like to do. Your lives were spent in indecency, lust, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and the disgusting worship of idols.    4 And now the heathen are surprised when you do not join them in the same wild and reckless living, and so they insult you.    5 But they will have to give an account of themselves to God, Who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”    Dear people of God, when anyone encounters Jesus, believes, repents genuinely and accepts Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord of his life, a new Spirit takes over the person as he becomes a new creation in Jesus Christ – 2 Corinthians 5:17.   However, because the person is still a baby Christian, the devil makes an effort using the new Christian’s friends to try to pull him back into a previous lifestyle of sin and immorality.   When the new Christian refuses to join his former friends in their reckle...
