THE god OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Luke 16:15 (AMPC) “ But He said to them, you are the ones who declare yourselves just and upright before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted and highly thought of among men is detestable and abhorrent (an abomination) in the sight of God.” [1 Sam. 16:7; Prov. 21:2.]   Dear people of God, yesterday Monday October 4, 2021, the social media applications WhatsApp, Facebook, Facebook messenger and Instagram had a service outage for about 7 hours between 5p.m. GMT to after 12 midnight GMT.   It is reported that many users were visibly distraught and a lot of businesses that depend on these apps to interact for business with their customers lost billions of US dollars due to the outage.   Many casual users quickly switched over to Telegram and other social media networks to continue their chatting with friends because it has become an addictive hobby for them.   Though they have been conflicting reports as to what caused the service outage, on...

GOD HATES IDOLATRY

Deuteronomy 13:1-4 (AMPC) “ If a prophet arises among you, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder,   2 And the sign or the wonder he foretells to you comes to pass, and if he says, let us go after other gods–gods you have not known–and let us serve them,   3 You shall not listen to the words of that prophet or to that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being.   4 You shall walk after the Lord your God and [reverently] fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and cling to Him.”     Dear people of God, it is amazing how a sane human seeking help visits a voodoo priest who cannot help himself but makes promise to help others.   And you find such people ready to do whatever the voodoo priest tells them even when it is disgusting.   If the voodoo priest could truly help an...

GOING TO HEAVEN FROM NIGERIA

2 Corinthians 6:14 (AMPC) “ Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership have right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship with darkness?”   Dear people of God, the nation of Nigeria in West Africa is immensely blessed of God with abundance of natural and human resources.   Unfortunately, this same nation is governed by a group of savagely and notoriously corrupt officials whose ungodly activities over the years have made the socio-political environment very hostile to anyone who is committed to Godliness.   Corruption and ineptitude is a state policy and the nation appears to be drifting into more and more lawlessness every day.   You can hardly obtain any service from any public sector organization at the official price without having to part with more money via of...

RIGHTEOUSNESS ACCORDING TO GOD

Romans 4:3 (AMPC) “For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed in (trusted in) God, and it was credited to his account as righteousness (right living and right standing with God). [Gen. 15:6.]”   Dear people of God, what does righteousness mean? According to the online dictionary, righteousness means the quality of being morally right or justifiable.   In religious circles, righteousness is also defined as right standing with God or the condition of being in a right relationship with God.   According to the Holy Bible, Abraham believed in or trusted in God and it was credited to his account as righteousness.   For what reasons did Abraham believe in God?   (1) Abraham believed God about a revelation of being the One and only True God with whom he should have a relationship with a promise of great blessing contrary to the idolatry his ancestors practised – Joshua 24:2; Genesis 17:1-2   (2) Abraham believed God about a promise of making him a father o...

WHEN GOD MAKES A PROMISE

Deuteronomy 3:1-4 (AMPC)  “ 1 THEN WE turned and went up the road to Bashan, and Og king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.   2 And the Lord said to me, Do not fear him, for I have given him and all his people and his land into your hand; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.   3 So the Lord our God also gave into our hands Og king of Bashan and all his people, and we smote him until not one was left to him.   4 And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them, sixty cities, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.”   Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text is a typical example of how God fulfils His Word once He gives it.   When the Israelites were out of Egypt by God’s mighty hand and moving through the wilderness towards the land God had promised to give their forefathers and descenda...
