WHEN GOD MAKES A PROMISE

Deuteronomy 3:1-4 (AMPC)
1 THEN WE turned and went up the road to Bashan, and Og king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

2 And the Lord said to me, Do not fear him, for I have given him and all his people and his land into your hand; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.

3 So the Lord our God also gave into our hands Og king of Bashan and all his people, and we smote him until not one was left to him.

4 And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them, sixty cities, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.”

Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text is a typical example of how God fulfils His Word once He gives it.

When the Israelites were out of Egypt by God’s mighty hand and moving through the wilderness towards the land God had promised to give their forefathers and descendants, they had an encounter with Og, king of Bashan who was a great king with very high walls fortified cities of his kingdom who came to make war with Israel.

Despite this, God simply told Moses not to fear Og for He (God) had given him and all his people and his land into the hands of Israel. This was before any physical encounter between Bashan and Israel.

And indeed, it eventually happened the way God has previously declared to Moses and Israel had the victory and took over the entire 60 cities of Bashan.

The lesson here is that when God makes a promise to you as His child, do NOT ever doubt it but rather believe, worship and thank God because what He has promised must happen and nothing in this world can ever stop it.

Then act exactly on what God has said and you would surely reap the benefits of an obedient child of a Righteous and Just God.

Never forget to testify of the Lord’s goodness in your life and return all the glory to Him and Him ALONE.

Dear friend, when you genuinely belong to God as His child, you are entitled to the rights of a child of God, for as the Bible states in Romans 8:17, “And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory.”

The way to know what belongs to you as a child of God is to study the Book of Promise, the Word of God in the Holy Bible every day, worship and pray to God to speak to you and guide you through His Holy Spirit.

For you to become a child of God is to:

(1) Acknowledge sin in your life and be genuinely remorseful
(2) Confess your sins to God, ask for His forgiveness and forsake sin totally
(3) Accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord
(4) Commit and live a genuine and uncompromising life in obedience to all of God’s commands in the Holy Bible.

Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take away only His qualified children in Rapture. Are you His child? Are you ready for Him?

Come today and now, for tomorrow or later may be too late for you.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.

Gabriel Ama.
