THE RIGHT WAY TO ASSESS YOURSELF

Many folks assess themselves using others as a yard stick, whether it is spiritual standing with God, financial status, academic prowess, relationships, health status, marriage, you name it. As a result, they feel relaxed when they believe they have a better standing than the person with whom they are comparing themselves. Dear friend, the correct yardstick with which to assess yourself is the Word of God in the Holy Bible. When you study God’s Word regularly, conscientiously and meditatively, it gives you an exact understanding of where you are in life. God’s Word can never mislead you unlike the lifestyle of others. God’s Word is pure and sharper than a double edged sword – Hebrews 4:12. It tells you how you are faring in your relationships with others and most importantly how you stand with God. In Luke 18:9-14, we read how the Lord Jesus Christ uses a parable of a tax collector and a Pharisee to warn those who believe they are more righteous than others an...

GOD DOES NOT TEMPT ANYONE

Dear friends, the Word of God tells us in James 1:13, “ Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted from God; for God is incapable of being tempted by [what is] evil and He Himself tempts no one. ” Even though this statement is taken from the truth of God’s Word in the Holy Bible, you find so many people say maybe it is God’s will for their prayers not to be answered when it does appear the answer is taking long in coming. Some say, “who knows, maybe God is testing me to see my faith”. You even hear some talk about God allowing a period of dryness in one’s life! Does the Holy Bible say anything of such? The answer is no. people who say those things need to read their Bible to know the truth of God’s Word. The Bible says God does not tempt anyone. The person the Bible refers to as the tempter is satan or the devil – Matthew 4:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 3:5; 1 Corinthians 7:5; Revelation 2:10. In fact, listen to what God says in Jeremiah 29:11-13, “ For I know the tho...

THE SPIRIT THAT RULES THE UNSAVED

I was once having a discussion with a friend of mine who was voicing out his anger at the manner in which people commit evil acts these days, especially the horrendous nature of such acts. I then told my friend that the people who do these things are acting under the influence of demonic spirits. I further explained to him that everything that happens in the natural first takes place in the spiritual realm. The Word of God shows proof of this in Ephesians 2:1-2 (AMPC), “ AND YOU [He, Jesus, made alive], when you were dead (slain) by [your] trespasses and sins 2 In which at one time you walked [habitually]. You were following the course and fashion of this world [were under the sway of the tendency of this present age], following the prince of the power of the air. [You were obedient to and under the control of] the [demon] spirit that still constantly works in the sons of disobedience [the careless, the rebellious, and the unbelieving, who go against the purp...

TAKE THE MATTER TO JESUS CHRIST IN PRAYER

Every human child that has a pressing issue to resolve runs to tell his or her earthly father or mother. They do so because they believe their parents would resolve the matter for them. It never really occurs to them how their parents would resolve it. In fact, it never bothers them to try to reason whether or not their parents can resolve the matter. All they do is to ask and then their parents should resolve in their favour. Dear friend, this is exactly how it ought to be between Christians and God our Father in heaven. Our earthly parents have a limit to what they can do for us but the child does not know that when he or she is making a request. For adults who have read and understood the Word of God in the Holy Bible, it is written that God can do all things – Matthew 19:26. Since God can do all things, then we must take every single request to God in prayer in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. You must behave like the little child who believes his or...

USING YOUR MOUTH TO DECIDE YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES

Mark 11:23-24  “Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him. 24 For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].” Dear people of God, purely by the grace of God, I have reached the level in my Christian life where my ears and mind are very attentive to what I am saying most of the time and also to what others are saying as we converse daily. On a daily basis, I hear very many people utter a lot of negative comments concerning themselves.  Even when they say they are Christians, they pray with faith in Church and thereafter cancel the prayer with what they utter with their mouths, a reflection of what is going on in their minds. The Lord Jesus Christ has told us two things in today’s lead Scripture...
