THE DANGER IN REMAINING ANGRY

Many years ago my high school principal used to give us an advice any time school was going on a break for the holidays. He would tell us that we should avoid anger because there is danger in anger. He would say the difference between anger and danger is the letter “D” and it stands for the devil! How true that statement was and still is even today. In God’s Word we are told in Ecclesiastes 7:9 (AMPC), “ Do not be quick in spirit to be angry  or vexed, for anger  and vexation lodge in the bosom of fools.” God’s Word tells us here that those who get angry easily and quickly are fools. The Lord Jesus Christ says in Matthew 18:7, “ Woe to the world because of  offenses! For  offenses must come, but  woe to that man by whom the offense comes! ” The Lord Jesus is saying here that offenses must come in this world that we live in but woe unto anyone by whom the offense comes. What does woe mean? According to the dictionary, woe means gre...

ALWAYS HEAR BOTH SIDES OF A STORY

I learnt many years ago to listen to both sides of a story to reach an informed position before taking a decision over any matter. The reason why this is so important is because many people throw out rumours, half-truths and outright lies sometimes just to make their side of the story appear credible. This is the why the justice system gives someone a chance to defend himself over an accusation to enable the presiding judge deliver a verdict based on the facts of the case and not just sentiments thrown up by either party to the case. Let us examine what God’s Word says about this in Proverbs 18:17 (GNTD), “ The first person to speak in court always seems right until his opponent begins to question him. ” It is quite unfortunate that some people do not understand the gravity of telling lies and forming lies against another person just to suit their evil intentions. You find this very common in homes where the woman is trying to get her partner to throw out his chil...

DON’T BACK DOWN FROM GOD’S WORD WHEN SPOKEN OVER ANY SITUATION

The Bible makes it clear in Psalm 119:89 that every Word God has spoken is forever settled in heaven. Is there an untoward situation in your life and there is a Word of God that speaks to that situation? I urge you to speak God’s Word to that situation and continue to speak it until the situation bows in response to God’s Word and gives way. Now let me give you an example. God’s Word says in Matthew 8:17, “ He Himself (Jesus Christ) took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses  and infirmities and bore away our diseases. ” Now, do you have any ailment by whatever name that has been traumatising you for any number of years? Just speak God’s Word above to that sickness and don’t ever stop until the sickness disappears. Just tell the sickness, “it is written in Matthew 8:17 that the Lord Jesus Christ took away MY weaknesses  and infirmities and bore away MY diseases. I therefore command you sickness to leave my body in the Name of the Lord Jesus Chr...

ALWAYS MAKE OUT QUALITY TIME TO BE GRATEFUL TO GOD

God called David the second king of Israel a man after His (God’s) heart. This is recorded in 1 Samuel 13:14, “ But now your (Saul’s) kingdom shall not continue; the Lord has sought out [David] a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be prince  and ruler over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you. ” Why did God refer to David with such beautiful accolade? It is because David knew how to give thanks and praise to God. It was David who instituted praise and worship of God in the temple when he was king over Israel – 1 Chronicles 15:16. David also danced with so much joy when the ark of God’s covenant was returned to Israel from the home of Obed Edom where it had been after release from the Philistines (2 Samuel 6:11). David danced so much that Michal, David’s wife and erstwhile king Saul’s daughter despised him (2 Samuel 6:16) and castigated David for such showing in public. The Bible records that Michal never h...
