THE DANGER IN REMAINING ANGRY

Many years ago my high school principal used to give us an advice any time school was going on a break for the holidays.

He would tell us that we should avoid anger because there is danger in anger. He would say the difference between anger and danger is the letter “D” and it stands for the devil!

How true that statement was and still is even today.

In God’s Word we are told in Ecclesiastes 7:9 (AMPC), Do not be quick in spirit to be angry or vexed, for anger and vexation lodge in the bosom of fools.”

God’s Word tells us here that those who get angry easily and quickly are fools.

The Lord Jesus Christ says in Matthew 18:7, Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

The Lord Jesus is saying here that offenses must come in this world that we live in but woe unto anyone by whom the offense comes.

What does woe mean? According to the dictionary, woe means great sorrow or distress.

Other meanings of woe are miserysorrowdistresswretchedness, sadnessunhappinessheartacheheartbreakdespondencydesolationdespairdejectiondepressiongloommelancholy.

I know nobody wants to find himself or herself in such state of mind or situation. So it is clear that the Lord Jesus Christ is warning humans against creating offenses for others because of the consequence.

Dear friend, we must learn to overlook offenses and forgive those who offend us.

We must learn to pursue peace with all humans and holiness without which no person would ever see the Lord as stated in Hebrews 12:14.

There is just nothing in this world that is worth going to hell for.

Yes, people would offend you and you must ensure to resolve it with them. If you have not resolved the matter with your offender, then do not go off telling others because that would create bitterness in their hearts against YOUR offender who has done nothing to them.

In your relations with others, seek to speak words that edify the person and not defile the person.

This is the way of life Christians are commanded to live according to God’s Word in Hebrews 12:14.

You may say it is not easy to live through such injunction but I will tell you that behind every quarrel, crisis, problem, e.tc., there is an evil spirit and you as a child of the Most High God has authority over such evil spirit causing the problem.

All you have to do is give a command in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ to the foul spirit to stop its manoeuvres and problems and the spirit would cease in its evil activities immediately and then you can reconcile with the person.

This is how a Christian must live always. The road to heaven is very narrow but with the Holy Spirit of God and the Word of God, we shall always overcome in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
