RESOLVING MARITAL CONFLICTS

In my part of the world in Africa, many women remain in their marriage even when they experience hardships and unpleasant experiences arising from the marriage. For most of them, they remain because the society rarely allows separation but encourages the woman to bear with the husband’s shortcomings. Again for the women who rely on their husbands for sustenance, the thought of suffering if they were to separate from the union keeps them in the marriage and so they endure. On the other hand, in Europe and North America, the women rarely tolerate difficulties in marriage. The society ensures the divorced woman obtains generous alimony payments from the providing husband even when the man is unwilling to do so. Whether it is in Africa, Europe or North America, conflicts abound in marriages for various reasons. For some, money is the major reason. For some, it is an unfaithful spouse and for some, it is issues arising from extended families, raising kids, and even upbrin...

GOD’S EXPECTATION OF CHRISTIANS

In my last post, we looked at God’s expectations of humans, which can be summarized in God’s Word in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, “ All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God's providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun]  and the whole [duty] for every man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good or evil. This is God’s expectation of all humans because God will judge our every action on a Day He has appointed in the future and the Lord Jesus Christ will sit on the Throne to judge everyone. Now, for Christians, God also has another expectation, which the Lord Jesus Christ talks about in Matthew 5:14-16, “ You are the light of the world. A city...

GOD’S EXPECTATION OF HUMANS

Deuteronomy 10:12-13 “ And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you but [reverently] to fear the Lord your God, [that is] to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being, 13 To keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?”  Dear friend, God created us humans without our permission. However, God needs our permission to save us. I will explain in detail. Our first parents Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s commandment not to eat the fruit of the tree that was in the middle of the Garden of Eden. That act of disobedience brought sin and death (physical and spiritual) into the world and spiritually disconnected humans from God. However, because of His infinite love for mankind, God sent the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Messiah to come into the world as a human being to shed His precious blood on the Cross of...

WHAT DOES GOD’S WORD SAY?

07/07/2018 – WHAT DOES GOD SAY? Dear friend, God in His infinite mercy and love has given me grace to fall in love with His Word in the Holy Bible so much so that nowadays I always process my comments and those of others through God’s Word. The integrity with which God values and holds His Word is unfathomable. Every human being needs to understand this fact because it is Truth. Whenever I see people passing through emotional, financial, marital, medical and other problems, I empathize with them because I know for sure that if they had understanding of God’s Word, their situation would change for best once they applied it. When I am conversing with someone, my mind is processing the conversation through the Truth of God’s Word. Once I observe a deviation of the conversation from God’s Word, I quickly draw my listener’s attention to it. I do this because I know that God’s Word is Spirit and it is Life as the Lord Jesus Christ tells us in John 6:63b. I also do it to ...
