GOD’S EXPECTATION OF HUMANS
Deuteronomy 10:12-13
“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God
require of you but [reverently] to fear the Lord your God, [that is] to walk in
all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your
[mind and] heart and with your entire being,
13 To keep the commandments of the Lord and
His statutes which I command you today for your good?”
Dear friend, God created us humans
without our permission. However, God needs our permission to save us. I will
explain in detail.
Our first parents Adam and Eve
disobeyed God’s commandment not to eat the fruit of the tree that was in the
middle of the Garden of Eden.
That act of disobedience brought
sin and death (physical and spiritual) into the world and spiritually disconnected
humans from God.
However, because of His infinite
love for mankind, God sent the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Messiah to
come into the world as a human being to shed His precious blood on the Cross of
Calvary and die for the sins caused by Adam and Eve.
This redemptive action of the Lord
Jesus Christ by shedding His precious blood put an end to sin holding mankind
to ransom, gave mankind an assurance of an eternal life in Heaven and brought
back a spiritual connection of humans to God.
Now, one may ask, why do humans
still sin today since Jesus has concluded the work of redemption?
What Jesus did for humans on the
Cross of Calvary is objective redemption, that is, the act of dying for the
sins of all mankind. What is left for each human is the subjective redemption,
that is, each person deciding personally to believe and accept Jesus Christ as
Messiah and then live a righteous life of obedience to Jesus’ commandments in
the Holy Bible.
Those who are still slaves to sin are
those who have rejected the FREE gift of Salvation Jesus Christ offers to
anyone who desires it.
This offer of the Lord Jesus
Christ is not compulsory here on earth to receive BUT it is compulsory for
anyone who will have an eternity in heaven.
What are the requirements of this
offer? Today’s lead message from the Holy Bible provides a summary of what God
requires from humans.
I will repeat it here again for emphasis: [reverently] to fear the Lord your God, [that is]
to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with
all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being,
13 To
keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes.
Any human who can surrender to the Lordship of
Jesus Christ and sincerely obey God’s commandments in the Holy Bible will
attain eternal life at the end of his or her stay here on earth.
As you fear God, so you must respect and show love
to fellow humans as God also commands.
This is not difficult to do because once you accept
Jesus’ offer, the Holy Spirit will come into your life to guide you in the
paths of righteousness as a new creation in Christ Jesus – 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Dear friend, I urge you today to return the love
God has first showed all humans through the redemptive work of Christ’s
sacrificial death at Calvary.
It is for your good and indeed the good of every
human who believes and accepts.
God bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it
and share with others in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
