“For
what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed in (trusted in) God, and it was
credited to his account as righteousness (right living and right standing with
God). [Gen. 15:6.]”
Dear people of God, what does righteousness mean? According to
the online dictionary, righteousness means the quality of being morally right or justifiable.
In religious circles,
righteousness is also defined as right standing with God or the condition of
being in a right relationship with God.
According to the Holy
Bible, Abraham believed in or trusted in God and it was credited to his account
as righteousness.
For what reasons did
Abraham believe in God?
(1) Abraham believed God about a revelation
of being the One and only True God with whom he should have a relationship with
a promise of great blessing contrary to the idolatry his ancestors practised –
Joshua 24:2; Genesis 17:1-2
(2) Abraham believed God
about a promise of making him a father of nations even when Abraham had no
biological child of his own at 75 years of age – Genesis 12:2; Genesis 17:5
(3) Abraham believed God
about the promise of giving him land for himself and his descendants and so
Abraham left his ancestral land and his relatives in southern Mesopotamia (in
present-day Iraq) in obedience to God’s command – Genesis 12:1.
As you can see, it took great faith for Abraham to believe and
trust completely in God’s promises, which is why he obeyed all that God
instructed him.
In fact, let us see God’s testimony of Abraham in Genesis 18:19,
“For
I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may
teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep
the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous, so that the Lord may
bring Abraham what He has promised him.”
Therefore, God called Abraham a righteous man.
God says He does not change, and He is the same yesterday, today
and forever - Malachi 3:6a; Hebrews 13:8.
What is the lesson for Christians? For God to call you a
righteous person, you must believe and obey His commands in the Holy Bible.
This is contrary to the lie being taught today by many false so-called
Christian congregations and false teachers of the doctrine of eternal security,
that is, once saved, forever saved and so any Christian can belong to Christ
and continue to live in sinful disobedience to God because we are living under
grace and not under the law.
God has not changed His moral laws for man and whatever God
declares an abomination remains an abomination forever. Sin or wrongdoing of
any kind is an abomination before God.
Examples are stated in 1 Corinthians
6:9-10 (AMPC), “Do
you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not
inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived
(misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,
nor those who participate in homosexuality,
10 Nor
cheats (swindlers and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor
foulmouthed revilers and slanderers, nor extortioners and robbers
will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God.”
Therefore, dear friend, do not be deceived because any Christian
who practises the very opposite of righteousness or who practises
unrighteousness or disobedience to God’s commands in the Holy Bible will NOT
enter heaven.
For a non-Christian, the first step towards righteousness or
right standing with God is you having heard the pure and undiluted Gospel of
Jesus Christ first realizing and acknowledging your spiritual and physical
helplessness because of a daily struggle with sin.
Thereafter, you run to God in remorseful and humble prayer,
confessing and asking for His forgiveness of your sins and then acknowledging
that Jesus Christ His Son died for your sins and rose again on the third day to
prove He is the Messiah.
Finally, you invite Jesus Christ to takeover and live in you as
your Saviour and Lord and you promise and commit to daily study, meditate, pray
to God in Jesus’ Name and uncompromisingly obey all His commands in the Holy
Bible.
Then God imputes righteousness to you.
There is no other way to reach God except through this path.
Again, let no man deceive you with a promise of many routes to God because
there is nothing like that.
Those who died rejecting the Gospel have now come to believe it
but it is too late for them because they are unfortunately languishing in
eternal damnation forever.
You reading this message still stand a chance and you must take
the right decision of your own free will today and now, before it is too late
for you.
Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take away only His qualified
children in Rapture. Are you His child? Are you ready for Him?
Come today and now, for tomorrow or later may be too late for
you.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed
His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
