TOLERANCE IN MARRIAGE (2)

 Ephesians 5:22-26 (AMPC)

“22 Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord.

 

23 For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the church, Himself the Savior of [His] body.

 

24 As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.

 

25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her,

 

26 So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word,”

 

Dear people of God, today’s lead Holy Bible text is a bit of a challenge for many a couple in their marriage in this generation.

 

You hear the man say he will not love his wife if she fails to submit as the Bible says, while the woman says she will not submit to her husband if he fails to love her as Christ loves the Church.

 

So who is right and who is wrong? To answer that question, I want you to go back to the text above and read it again.

 

Now, do you find anywhere a condition is given to the husband BEFORE he loves his wife or to the wife BEFORE she submits to her husband? The clear answer is NO, there is no such condition in the Holy Bible.

 

Now, let us examine another Scripture to throw more light on this issue in Romans 5:8, “8 But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.”

 

This Scripture tells us that even while we were STILL sinners, Christ died for us as a proof of His love for us. This means Christ does not wait for us to repent before He loves us. He loves the sinner BUT hates the sin.

 

This is still the case even now for lost souls who are yet to know Christ.

 

This should also be the case for husbands and wives because we are, as Christians, to follow the example of Christ as we are told in Ephesians 5:1, “1 THEREFORE BE imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].”

 

This means as a Christian husband, you MUST love your wife even before she submits to you. Also, as a Christian wife, you MUST submit to your husband even before he loves you.

 

If you are able to operate this way in your marriage, then not only would you please God but you would in addition also win over your spouse to your side with an excellent example of Christian conduct.

 

One may argue now and say, I am only saying this because I am not in your position. As true as that may sound, I must tell you that there is no perfect marriage anywhere. You only have a perfect marriage when as husband and wife, you decide to fear God and do exactly what His Word in the Holy Bible says.

 

It is the Word of God and the Spirit of God that can influence a person to do the right thing and live right.

 

You must make that conscious effort to study God’s Word, meditate on it and do what it says, NOT what you think or what someone advises that is contrary to God’s Word.

 

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL VIOLENCE IN PEOPLE?

Hebrews 12:14 (AMPC)  “ Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration  and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.”   Dear people of God, I read sometime in December 2019 ago of a police inspector in Nigeria who shot and killed his colleague, a corporal, and the same shot injured another colleague, a deputy Superintendent of police after which the police inspector took his own life.   What could have led to such violence?   I also read of another unfortunate story of a lady killed December 25, 2019, Christmas Day, by her husband who had beaten her to a coma and then ran away after discovering what he had done. GOD CANNOT VIOLATE HIS WORD

  Psalm 89:34  “My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.” Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text in Psalm 89:34 is a profound statement by God Almighty and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What this statement from God means is that there is nothing He has said in His Word that He will fail to perform.
