FAITH COMES FROM HEARING GOD’S WORD

Romans 10:17 (AMPC)

“17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).”

 

Dear people of God, at times a Christian can become discouraged from the many challenges he faces on a daily basis especially in Africa where a lot of lawlessness and injustice is meted out by the political authorities and their agents/representatives to hapless citizens.

 

So what can one do in such situations? I tell you the truth, dear friend, the Word of God in the Holy Bible is all we should look to for succour.

 

Anytime I feel a little overwhelmed, I look up to God’s Word for encouragement and strength to carry on because the Lord Jesus Himself tells us in Matthew 11:28-29, “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

 

29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. [Jer. 6:16.]”

 

You can see from these verses of Holy Scriptures that the Lord Jesus Christ tells us to come to Him when we feel overburdened and He will give us rest and refresh our souls.

 

So how do we find Him when we cannot see Him physically? In His Word in the Holy Bible, that is where you find Him.

 

Jesus Christ is the Word of God (John 1:1,14; 1 John 5:7, Revelation 19:13) and when you study the Word of God, you have found the Lord.

 

In those quiet moments when you study and meditate on God’s Word, the Lord Jesus would speak to you concerning your situation. At times, He would initiate the move by speaking to you in the quiet of your heart (human spirit) and give you either a Scripture or Scriptures to read.

 

Jesus does this because He loves you and He never wants you to feel abandoned as His child for He is your loving Father.

 

This way, your faith builds up as you believe and accept God’s Word, and you will notice that you begin to feel much better and your recovery from the painful or sorrowful situation is quick.

 

This is why the Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God.

 

Dear friend, do you have a problem that is making you feel sad, overwhelmed and discouraged? Please do not become desperate and do not get yourself worked up through worry but simply take it to Jesus in prayer and study His Word to see what He would tell you concerning your situation.

 

Jesus tells us in His Word in Hebrews 13:5 (AMPC), “Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] [Josh. 1:5.]

 

This offer is available to everyone, Christians and non-Christians alike. Jesus loves us all and He wants everyone of us to become His children by genuinely repenting of sin, confessing sins to God and forsaking sin, coming back and accepting the Lordship of Jesus Christ as Messiah and then obeying Jesus’ commands in the Holy Bible with all seriousness and in every situation without compromise.

 

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Merciful Name, Amen.
