ARE YOU A STUMBLING BLOCK TO THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST?
Romans 14:12-13 (AMPC) “And so each of us shall give an
account of himself [give an answer in reference to judgment] to God. 13 Then
let us no more criticize and blame and pass judgment on one another,
but rather decide and endeavour never to put a stumbling block or an obstacle
or a hindrance in the way of a brother.” Dear people of God, a few years ago, we were asked to share
invitation flyers to the public in an area where one of our local church
parishes was to open newly. I recall giving one of the flyers to a lady who asked me the name
of the church and when I mentioned it, she said “God forbid.” When I asked why
she rejected the flyer, she did not respond. Obviously, some member of the church she knows must have caused
her offence and this stirred up hatred in her for the church. Recently, a friend told me how in his church the pastor made a
commitment towards a church project but never fulfilled it. It happened that my friend had a new convert who was in church
that day the pastor made the commitment. This new convert stopped coming to church
and when my friend asked him, he said he was not interested because the pastor
could not be trusted to keep his word. During our weekly evangelism outreach last Saturday May 15, 2021
on a follow up visit to a man who had stopped going to church for sometime now,
he opened up to inform us how a lady from the same hometown with him was
constantly harassing and castigating her husband even in public for his
inability to provide for the family. The man was trying his best but this lady would have none of it. What pained this man was because this lady is a member of a
church that preaches Holiness, Righteousness and the Truth of God’s Word but
this was not reflecting in her character. He then asked me if this lady’s insolent behaviour towards her
husband wasn’t enough to discourage him from attending church? While we agreed with him that it could discourage a person, we
also made him understand that everybody is running an individual race towards
the goal of heaven and so we would all stand to give account to God. So the idea of allowing another person’s character to discourage
you from attending Church was certainly not pleasing to God. We made him understand that the lady’s behaviour was because she
had not allowed the Word of God she heard preached in Church permeate into her
to cause the transformation the Bible speaks about in James 1:21. Dear friend, are you a Christian? Do you believe in Jesus
Christ? Do you really love Jesus Christ? Are you aware you are an ambassador of
Christ and that non-Christians and new Christian converts alike watch your
character to see if it conforms to the standards of Christianity? Are you aware that your words and actions as a Christian must
match God’s Word otherwise you are seen as a fraud? Are you the same person in character in church as you are in the
home front, office, place of business, etc? Does it not occur to you that God would judge you for every
obstacle of discouragement you place in the way of others from your ungodly
character whilst professing Christ? As Christ’s ambassador, you are supposed to be a stepping stone
for others to come up from darkness of sin and ungodliness to know and
experience the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and NOT a stumbling block
in the way of others leading them and yourself into an eternal damnation in
HELL. Repent therefore and amend your ways before God and humans
before it is too late for you. Dear friend, Jesus Christ is coming shortly
to take in Rapture ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous
standards in the Holy Bible. Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for
Him? Repent and come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you. Once Jesus takes away His children, the entire earth would come
under God’s wrath and Divine judgement in a most terrible manner never
experienced before. Why do you risk your life in sin and risk the grave danger, pain
and suffering ahead and risk ultimately damning your soul forever in the lake
of fire? May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on
it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen. Gabriel Ama.
