DO NOT DARE GIVE WRONG INTERPRETATION TO GOD'S WORD
Dear friend, have you ever
heard someone or a preacher say, "I THINK this is what God was trying to
say" when giving interpretation to a Bible passage?
There is absolute need to
ensure that God's Word is not misinterpreted to suit one's purpose or for the
purpose of misleading others because that is very deceitful, very dangerous
and very sinful.
When satan came to tempt the
Lord Jesus Christ after Jesus fasted 40 days and nights while here on earth as
a human, satan quoted the Word of God to suit his purpose when he stated that
if the Lord Jesus Christ were the Son of God He should jump from the top of the
Temple in Jerusalem and satan quoted the Scripture where it says God will give
His angels charge over us, and they would hold us and not allow our feet to be
hurt on the stones (Psalm 91:11-12).
The truth is, if satan could
tempt His Creator, Jesus Christ, satan can do it to anyone. However, it would be
very dangerous for anyone to allow himself or herself to be fooled by satan
into misinterpreting the Word of God to suit a selfish purpose.
The reason I say this is
because God judges our motives and anyone who engages in such act of
misinterpreting God's Word for a selfish or deceitful purpose will end up
FOREVER in hell fire if the person does not repent before dying and departing
this world.
When the Lord Jesus Christ
took an Ecuadorian teenager Angelica Zambrano Mora to show a lost soul in hell
for not paying tithes, the Lord Jesus Christ said His Word on tithes is very
clear because the lost soul was crying and begging for mercy whilst stating
that he has repented and would not rob God again.
This lost soul used to be a
Christian believer and youth leader for 20 years while he was alive on earth
but he made up his mind not to pay tithes because according to him, the pastors
were using the money for their own purpose.
The Lord Jesus quoted His
Word in Malachi 3:6-12 and made it known that His Word is very clear on the
matter of tithes and offerings and whenever tithes and offerings are not paid,
the work of the Gospel of winning souls for the Kingdom of Heaven suffers and
that amounts to robbing God and no one can rob God.
You can see dear reader, how
much love Jesus our Lord and Saviour has for us and even for lost souls here on
earth when He says we should pay tithes and offerings so that the work of the
Gospel continues to win souls.
What you must also know is
that there is a promise of God to bless us and keep the devourer (satan) away
when we pay our tithes, which is just 10% of our income as salary earners or
10% of profits as business people.
Those who diligently pay
their tithes as God has commanded have several testimonies of God's fulfilment
of His Word of blessing because God is a covenant keeping Father and cannot
fail to keep His Word for those who love and serve Him even to a thousand
generations (Deuteronomy 7:9).
If that is the case, dear
reader, why disobey God and risk perishing FOREVER in hell when one dies and
departs this world as that lost soul of the youth leader?
I have also heard cases of
single women who want to engage in fornication/adultery with a married man and
quoting the bible to say that even King David of Israel had 7 wives and
concubines and so there is nothing wrong with their being a second wife in
marriage.
The answer I will give such
people is contained in God's Word in Acts 17:30-31 "God has overlooked the times when people did not know Him, but
now He commands all of them everywhere to turn away from their evil ways. For
He has fixed a day in which He will judge the whole world with justice by means
of a Man (the Lord Jesus Christ) He has chosen. He has given proof of this to
everyone by raising that Man from death."
The time God overlooked the
times people did not know Him was BEFORE the Lord Jesus Christ came to give His
life for the sins of mankind on the Cross of Calvary, and this is the era King
David belonged.
Moreso, God clearly warned
that a King in Israel was not to have many wives because that would make him
turn away from God (Deuteronomy 17:17). We see this clearly in the case of King
David's immediate successor King Solomon who married 700 wives and had 300
concubines who led him into idolatry against God's commands with disastrous
consequences (1 Kings 11:1-13).
Now, God will never overlook
disobedience to his commands unless the person repents because of the great price
the Lord Jesus paid for our sins.
In the era of Christianity,
God's command is one man, one wife (1 Timothy 3:2,12). Anyone who disobeys this
command and continues to quote the Old Testament to support their claim is in
danger of perishing FOREVER in hell.
Another Scripture majority
of Christians particularly in Africa quote has to do with praying for their
enemies to die. They quote the Old Testament to support their claim whereas the
era of Christianity, found in the New Testament is where our Lord Jesus Christ
commands Christians to love and pray for their enemies (Matthew 5:43-48).
Job says he never rejoiced
at his enemies' downfall or sinned by praying for his enemies to die (Job
31:29-30).
The call to Christianity is
a call to love and forgiveness (Matthew 5:38-48) and anyone who preaches
contrary is in danger of perishing FOREVER in the fire of hell if such person
dies unrepentant.
Another very dangerous
preaching is where some, even in Christendom claim that the Holy Trinity does
not exist. The Holy Trinity is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy
Spirit, that is, one God in 3 distinct Personalities. The Bible supports this
clearly in Matthew 28:19 and 1 John 5:7, yet many are teaching the opposite and
are in danger of perishing FOREVER in hell with such wrong teaching.
Another preaching that some
misinterpret is the one in Matthew 19:9 and Matthew 5:32 where the Lord Jesus
Christ talks about divorce. Many who want to suit their purpose quote these
Scriptures to divorce their spouses and commit adultery by marrying someone
else.
However, the truth is that
the original Greek text of the bible has the Lord Jesus Christ saying you
cannot divorce your spouse, except for porneia, a Greek word for unchastity
or unlawful sexual intercourse.
The Greek word for adultery moicheia
was never used in this passage when the Lord Jesus spoke so Jesus could not
have been referring to adultery but something else.
What the Lord Jesus Christ
was referring to is a state of concubinage or illicit union where true marriage
never existed in the first place between the couple.
In essence, the Lord Jesus
Christ is saying you cannot divorce your spouse for whatever reason. If you do
not believe what I have said, then remember that God is not a God of confusion
and cannot say one thing and say something else on the same matter because His
Word is true forever (Psalm 119:89).
God clearly states in
Malachi 2:16 "I hate divorce, says
the Lord God of Israel, I hate it when one of you does such a cruel thing to
his wife. Make sure you that you do not break your promise to be faithful to
your wife."
Dear friend, the reason why
I have made this post is so that it is clear to you and others you share this
message with that God's Word cannot be altered or misinterpreted to suit our
purposes or any purpose other than what God wants His Word to accomplish.
It is a dangerous thing to
misinterpret God's Word and teach others the same. The question now is, how
does one as a Christian or child of God prevent himself or herself from falling
into this dangerous situation?
One way to avoid this is to
study God's Word and as it is stated in 1 John 2:27, But as for you, Christ has poured out His Spirit on you. As long as His
Spirit remains in you, you do not need anyone to teach you. For His Spirit
teaches you about everything, and what He teaches is true, not false. Obey the
Spirit's teaching then, and remain in union with Christ.
So, it is God's Holy Spirit
that teaches the truth about God as stated in His Word. It means we should pray
for the gift of the Holy Spirit to lead us to the truth about God. For this to
happen, dear friend, one must remain in union with Christ Jesus.
The only way to remain in
union with Christ Jesus is to believe that He died for our sins to set us free
from eternal damnation in hell and reconcile us with God. Then we ask God for
His Holy Spirit to teach us to obey His commands.
If we do this sincerely and
diligently, then we are not far from the Kingdom of God and we must as
Christians teach others to do the same, which will please God as we join Him to
win souls to His Kingdom of Heaven.
Dear friend, Jesus loves you
and I and wants us to accept His invitation to eternal life. Please do not lose
this opportunity now, for later or tomorrow may be too late.
God bless you as you heed
His Word, act on it and share with others in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
