ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN MAGICIANS? REALLY?

I was watching a Christian Television station sometime ago when I saw someone who introduced himself in the programme as a magician and a member of the Association of Christian magicians.

He went ahead to defend his submission that one could be a magician and a Christian and that there was nothing wrong with it!

Dear friend, I have said it repeatedly in several posts that on any issue, it does not matter what people say or think. As long as God's Word says something about a matter, a Christian will do himself or herself good to find out what God says by studying the Bible.

This is why God says man shall not live by bread alone but man lives by every Word God has spoken (Deuteronomy 8:3b; Matthew 4:4).

Jesus Christ, our Lord and Messiah, who is also The Word of God, tells us about the last days in Matthew 24:11 "Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many."

Jesus also says in Matthew 24:24 "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect."

Now who are the elect? Christians or Children of God. If our Lord Jesus Christ says false prophets will rise up in the last days to deceive many including the elect, then we should not be surprised about people claiming to be magicians and Christians at the same time.

Specifically speaking, what does the Bible, the Only Word of God tell us about Magic?

Acts 8:9-13 ESV

But there was a man named Simon, who had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was somebody great. They all paid attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the power of God that is called Great.”

And they paid attention to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his magic. But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 

Even Simon himself believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip. And seeing signs and great miracles performed, he was amazed.

Acts 19:17-19 ESV

And this became known to all the residents of Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks. And fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was extolled. Also many of those who were now believers came, confessing and divulging their practices.

And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted the value of them and found it came to fifty thousand pieces of silver.

Exodus 7:10-12 ESV

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent.

Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts. For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs.

Revelation 21:8 ESV

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, SORCERERS, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Dear friend, we can see the Word of God clearly is against magic and secret arts. We can see that Aaron and Moses used God's power to turn Aaron's staff into a serpent but Pharaoh's magicians of Egypt accomplished the same feat by means of secret arts or magic.

This means magic involves a power other than what God has allowed and so magic can never be good.

For those who choose to call themselves illusionists, this involves playing tricks and the word "trick" involves deceit. Now, is deceit something a Christian should engage in even for so called entertainment to make money?

Dear friend, I will tell you over and over again that the proper thing for a Christian to do is to read the Word of God to know what God says on any subject matter. Good enough the internet has made it easy to search the Holy Bible on any topic and go straight to the Bible verse or verses that speak on the matter.

God Almighty has done this because He loves us and does not want any one of us to be lost forever (2 Peter 3:9). The devil is looking for so many ways to make humans fall like him out of God's favour and end up in hell forever and forever as he has been condemned.

This is why we see and hear of people calling themselves magicians and Christians at the same time. Can light and darkness be in the same place? One must surely give way for the other.

This is why we hear of homosexuals and lesbians ordained as priests in Church. This is why very soon, we may begin to hear of Association of Christian Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual and Transgender, Association of Christian Drunkards, Association of Christian Prostitutes, Association of Christian Abortionists, Association of Christian Sorcerers, Association of Christian Mediums, Association of Christian Jesters, Association of Christian Tattoo Artists and all other abominable associations in God's sight.

Dear friend, it is so sad to see people being deceived just like the Word of God says would happen in the last days and these same people rise up to defend their deceit and fulfil Scriptures.

I urge you, do not allow yourself to be deceived. Like God's Word says Colossians 2:8 "See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ."

You can find the Word of God in Church and in its entirety in the Holy Bible ONLY, and NO WHERE ELSE.

If you are a Christian and you want to make heaven, let God's Word be your constant and daily companion because as our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has said in John 8:32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
