ENVIOUS PEOPLE ARE IGNORANT AND COMMITTING SIN WITHOUT REALIZING IT!
There
are several spiritual sins people commit without realizing it, and envy is one
of them. An envious person looks at the progress others are making and rather
than find out how to go about theirs, they concern themselves with bitterness
and resentment towards successful people.
Some
even go to the extent of planning evil against those they envy and even end up
killing them.
The
first case of envy recorded in human history is the story of Cain and Abel in
the Holy Bible.
Abel
offered the best of his animals to God in sacrifice while Cain, his brother,
presented poor quality gifts to God.
While
God accepted and acknowledged Abel's gifts, He rejected Cain's; Cain became
envious and then killed his own brother in the process. When God asked Cain
where his brother was, Cain responded by asking God if he, Cain, was his
brother's keeper (Genesis 4:1-9).
Dear
friend, from the account of God's Holy Word in the Bible, it is clear envy is
not limited to people who are unrelated but is seen even amongst blood relatives
with deadly consequences!
God
Almighty, our Father in heaven, created the entire universe and all that is in
it including human beings. When our first parents of every single human being
on earth, Adam and Eve, allowed themselves to be deceived by satan and sinned
against God's command, they fell out of favour with God.
But
because of His infinite love and mercy, God sent His only Son, our Lord Jesus
Christ and Second Person of the Holy Trinity, into the world, to die for our
sins and reconcile us to God.
God
has said that everyone should turn from sin and every wrongdoing, repent,
confess and forsake sin, believe what His Son our Lord Jesus Christ did on the
Cross of Calvary where He died for mankind's sin, accept the Lordship of Jesus,
and live a righteous life in obedience to God commands in the Holy Bible (Acts
17:29-31).
Our
Lord Jesus Christ has equally told us in His Word in the Bible, that we should
not worry about material things like pagans or non-Christians do, but we should
rather focus on getting into heaven and the righteousness required to enter
heaven, and God will provide all our needs because God knows we need those
things - food, shelter, clothing, etc (Matthew 6:31-34).
Our
Lord Jesus Christ has said that ALL THINGS are possible to the person who has
faith (Mark 9:23). Jesus has also said that human beings should have faith in
God and that WHATSOEVER we declare WITH OUR MOUTH and believe IN OUR HEARTS, it
would happen to us THE EXACT SAME WAY (Mark 11:22-24).
Rather
than practise these things God has declared, envious people choose to channel
their energy on planning and executing evil against other people who are doing
better than they are.
God
cannot fail and God cannot lie (Numbers 23:19), and whatsoever He has declared
MUST happen (Isaiah 55:10-11) because God is the Owner of the earth and all
that is within it (Psalm 24:1) and so there is nothing beyond Him as the One
who knows all (Omniscience), sees all everywhere (Omnipresence) and has
UNLIMITED POWER (Omnipotence)!
The
question, therefore is, why is so difficult for human beings to read,
understand and believe what the Owner of the Universe has declared? As many as
have faith and believe, accept and practise what God has said will get the
EXACT SAME RESULTS God has promised.
God
is a covenant keeping God (Deuteronomy 7:9) and so God cannot fail to keep His
promise.
Dear
friend, if human beings can understand this, then there is no need to envy
anyone who is making progress because God has given EVERYONE of His creatures
the same ability and opportunity to develop and prosper just as He commanded
Adam at the beginning (Genesis 1:27-28).
If
you see someone else doing much better than you, rather than feel bad and envy
the person, thank God for that person and pray to God to prosper you. God who
sees every person's heart and intention will grant your request if it is genuine.
However,
dear friend, for your intention to be genuine before God, it is necessary to
first ensure that you have Jesus Christ in your life, and that you are
DILIGENTLY obeying His commands as contained in His written Word, the Holy
Bible, and not only will you enjoy His blessings here on earth, but you are
assured of getting into heaven to spend eternity with Jesus.
Heaven
is a much better place than this earth and nothing in this world can compare to
being there.
An
envious person cannot enjoy God's blessing and CERTAINLY has no place in heaven
IN THE HEREAFTER.
Dear
friend, now that you know the foolishness and dangers of envy, I believe you
would do well not to engage in it and to teach others the same thing.
As
Christians, we are all called to share the Gospel with those who are living in
darkness of sin and evil so they can break loose from satan’s grip by the
redemptive blood of Jesus Christ and come into His Glorious Light as our
Messiah.
May
the good Lord therefore bless and prosper you as you heed His Word today, act
on it and share with others in Jesus' Most Blessed Name, Amen.
