IS YOUR TALENT YOUR MAKING OR GOD'S MAKING?
In
this life we have people who are very talented in different endeavours - music,
football, business, writing, singing, dancing, cooking, sports, etc.
Many
atimes some people use these talents to serve themselves only and for the sole
purpose of making money. When the money eventually comes, they say they are
self made.
And
with this money they begin to see themselves as demigods who can do and undo.
They go on spending sprees, drinking, eating, and make merry with their friends
and acquaintances.
Dear
friend, there is nothing wrong with having a talent and there is nothing wrong
in using the talent to earn a living.
What
is wrong is not using this same talent to serve God and acknowledge God as the
One who gave the talent and Who deserves all the glory.
Now,
the question we ask at this point is, whose making is the talent, yours or
God's? If you say it is God, you have spoken right and spoken well. If you say
the talent is your making, then you have got it all wrong.
The
Bible records God's comments in Exodus 31:1-5, Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “See, I have called by name
Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. And I have
filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge,
and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in
silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work
in all manner of workmanship."
Dear
friend, you can see from these Bible verses that it is the Spirit of God that
gives people talent or wisdom to execute mastery in whatever profession they
undertake.
Therefore, no human being has any right
whatsoever to make a boast of his or her talent. Rather, the credit for such
talent should go to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As
God says in His Word in Jeremiah 9:23-24, Thus
says the Lord: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty
man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;
But let him
who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the
Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For
in these I delight,” says the Lord.
Dear
friend, now that you have read and understood that every talent is given by
God's Wisdom through His Spirit, you will learn to give God ALONE all the glory
that rightly belongs to Him.
You
will also do well to correct those who boast in themselves and not in the Lord.
You will also understand that it is Christ alone, the Word of God, Who can
sustain us for when we read, understand and diligently practise His Word IN THE
HOLY BIBLE, we will never go astray or do things that offend Him.
As
you can see, God has given me a talent of writing that I am using to serve Him
by sharing the truth of the Gospel according to His Word in the Holy Bible.
God
has created every one for a specific purpose and He has given everyone the
talent to use in serving Him (Matthew 25:14-30). What is your talent and how
are you using it to serve God?
As
you can see from the bible reference in Matthew 25:14-30, every human being
will account to God for use of his or her talent while here on earth.
Does
your talent glorify God? Do you use your talent of singing to sign worldly and
immoral songs? Do you use your talent of dancing to dance immoral songs and
dance immorally?
Do
you use your talent of writing to write immoral and offensive stories? Do you
use your talent in business to cheat people? Do you use your talent in acting
to act immoral movies?
May
the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with
others in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
Gabriel
Ama.
