JESUS CHRIST THE KING IS COMING
Revelation 3:20
20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and
listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and
will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me.”
Dear people of God, a story is told of a painting of our Lord
Jesus Christ seen standing at a door.
Someone was asked to comment on the painting and the person
observed that the handle on the door was missing and so the painting was
incomplete.
The artist who painted the photo responded that the painting was
complete and that the door had only one handle on the inside.
We can relate this story to today’s lead Bible text of our Lord
and King Jesus Christ standing at the door and knocking whilst expecting the
person on the inside to open the door to welcome Him.
Once again we have entered that season of Advent when a lot of
activities and preparations take place culminating in the celebration of
Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ.
During this period most people are focused on getting gifts,
giving gifts, and making merry. In essence, more money is spent and more gifts
are given during this period than at any other time of any given year.
Companies would lavish gifts on their staff and reward those who
performed well during the year.
Christians and non Christians alike will take time off to travel
to visit loved ones to celebrate. Some business people would become so
desperate to raise money to celebrate that they would engage in all manner of
unscrupulous, unethical and ungodly practices to cheat their customers.
Armed robbers would go on rampage to assault, maim and steal
from innocent people and businesses to raise money. Young girls would trade the
essence of their womanhood that should be reserved only for their future
spouses all for a “pot of porridge.”
Events’ managers would organize music concerts where all manner
of ungodly music and dances would be on display.
A few would take time to reflect on their lives, successes and
failures during the course of the year and how to improve next year. Fewer
still will take time to attend Church to thank God for the gift of Jesus
Christ, Who is the very reason for the season.
If you ask all the different groups enumerated above what
Christmas is about, it is most likely the last group in the preceding paragraph
that would be able to respond appropriately.
For all others, it is about making merry and enjoying
themselves.
Dear friend, given the scenario above, if you could just stop to
think for a moment if Jesus Christ the King of Kings and Lord of Lords were to
come during this season to take His people back to heaven, do you believe most
people would be ready to receive Him?
If you are unable to answer, I will respond to you with God’s
Word in Romans 14:17, [After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of
[getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that
state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the
Holy Spirit.
Now given this description from the Holy Bible, do you still
think with the way most people raise money to celebrate and even the manner
they celebrate Christmas they would be ready if Jesus Christ came this season?
The answer is a resounding NO!!!
Christmas should remind Christians about one of the greatest
events in human history – God’s fulfilment of His promise to send a Messiah,
Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of mankind (which is the greatest event in
human history) to destroy what satan the devil did and to reconcile mankind
back to God Who loves us so much (Colossians 1:20).
Now, to those Christians who still say all manner of things
about Christmas to denounce celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, ask
yourself, why is it that evil people and agents of satan rather than greet
Merry Christmas prefer ONLY to say Merry Xmas or Seasons’ Greetings or Happy
Holidays?
They do this because they are aware the word Christ is in
Christmas and they don’t ever want to be associated with Christ Jesus.
Unfortunately for them, the same Jesus Christ they want to avoid
is their Creator (Colossians 1:15-17) Who is standing at the door of their
heart to knock so they can open their hearts to receive Him.
Unfortunately for them again, unless they repent, confess their
sins, accept Jesus Christ and obey His commands in the Holy Bible while they
are alive, they will end up at death in the same place as their master satan –
HELL FIRE FOR ALL ETERNITY.
Dear friend, whatever you are doing now, stop and consider the
consequences and return in genuine repentance NOW to Jesus Christ, for He, the
King, is coming.
It will happen and absolutely nothing can stop it.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on
it and share with others in the Glorious Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Gabriel
