WILL JESUS CHRIST EVER FORGIVE ME?
This is the question I saw a young man ask
on television today as I watched a Christian programme on open air preaching.
A group of people were sharing the Gospel
via open air preaching in Vienna Austria and this young man happened to be
passing by, heard the message and stopped to listen.
He then spoke to a member of the group of
preachers and said he wanted to ask a question. He then asked this question of
today's topic and went on to say he had been struggling with hard drugs but he
had asked God for forgiveness, he now reads his bible but he usually found
himself crying while praying to God.
He said he had done a lot of very bad
things in the past, which was why he was struggling with the question whether
God would forgive him or not.
Dear friend, there are so many people in
today's world struggling with this same question - will Jesus Christ forgive
me? Their reason stems from their perception of the severity of the atrocities
they have committed and they are now full of regrets in their hearts.
Their limited view of the mercy of God and
their understanding of human nature makes them believe that God behaves like
humans.
God makes it clear to us in Isaiah 55:7-9, "Let the wicked forsake his way and the
unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have
love, pity, and mercy for him, and to our God, for He will multiply to him His
abundant pardon.
8
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the
Lord.
9
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your
ways and My thoughts than your thoughts."
Let us examine the Words of our Lord Jesus
Christ in John 6:37, "All whom My
Father gives (entrusts) to Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I
will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject one of them
who comes to Me]."
What this means is that mercy starts with
God and repentance enters the sinner because it is God who places it in the
person's heart to repent. And our Lord Jesus Christ makes it clear that He will
never reject anyone who comes to Him.
It therefore means your sin does not
disqualify once you have repented genuinely and decided to forsake your sins,
confess them to Jesus Christ, ask for His forgiveness, determine to make Jesus
the master of your life and live in strict compliance with His commands in the
Holy Bible.
What everyone of us needs to understand is
that God does not rate sin. No one sin is greater than the other as human
beings reason. All wrongdoing is sin - 1 John 5:17a
Telling lies is as heinous to God as committing
abortion or murder.
God makes it clear to us that rebellion is
as sinful as witchcraft and stubbornness as idolatry - 1 Samuel 15:23a.
So dear friend, if God has mercy on you to
repent and come to Him, the question of whether He will forgive you or not for
your sins is irrelevant.
What is relevant and important is whether
you would accept the hand of mercy God extends to you. If you do, then all the
best for you because you will be starting a journey to freedom from sin and
blessings that ONLY God Himself can provide in this world.
Better still, if you sincerely and
genuinely obey God's Word and all that He has commanded in the Holy Bible, you
will end up in heaven with Him forever once you exit this world.
God loves us so much, which is why He sent
Jesus Christ His Son to come to earth to die for our sins and be reconciled to
Him.
This is also why Jesus Who is God has
commanded us who have believed and accepted Him as Messiah to go out and tell
others so they can also repent from sin, accept Him and receive the eternal life
and blessings reserved only for those who accept Him - Mark 16:15-16.
Are you living in sin, now full of regrets
and are looking for a permanent way out? Are you a professed Christian but
still living in sin? Are you in and out of sin and think it is the right way to
live?
Dear friend, Jesus Christ is using today's
message to remind you that there is an eternal consequence if you die in sin.
As long as you are alive, there is a chance for repentance and salvation but
that ends once you die and the justice of God takes over.
Please make up your mind and decide now for
tomorrow or later may be too late.
Jesus is coming NOW.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His
Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
