HINDRANCES TO ANSWERED PRAYERS
Songs of Solomon 2:15
“Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.”
Dear people of God, delay in answer to prayers is not denial by God. There are people who seem to have done everything right but are yet to receive answers to their prayers.
Today, let us look at some of the hindrances or little foxes the devil uses in bringing accusations against us so we can learn to avoid them as God’s Word says and receive our miracles in the process:
Offence – Luke 17:1-4 – offences are a major hindrance to prayers of Christians because Christians lack understanding of the damage it causes to them spiritually. Our Lord Jesus has made it clear that if someone offends you, rebuke the person and if the offender repents, forgive.
It is expected that you will deal with the offending issue directly with the offender and let go rather than take it to tell another person who could be defiled by the report of offence – Hebrews 12:15.
Unforgiveness for one’s self. There are instances where in the past someone committed a sin, repented and asked God for forgiveness. While God has since forgiven, the person still refuses to forgive himself or herself and many years after the person has forgotten, this unforgiveness for oneself hinders his or her prayers.
Again, this is one area a lot of Christians are unaware and need to pay very close attention. Think carefully and forgive yourself of any sin you committed for which you have since repented and asked God for forgiveness so that you can get your miracle.
Negative confession – Proverbs 18:21; Mark 11:23-24 The words we speak carry power and shift our lives in the direction of our confession. This is because as our Lord Jesus has said, “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” – Luke 6:45.
Since the mouth speaks what the heart (mind) is full of, it means the heart must be guided with diligence above all else as God’s Word tells us in Proverbs 4:23.
It means for you to have a miracle or answered prayer, confession of what you want to see in life is a must and must be constant, not intermittent. Confession of God’s Word is even more powerful because God’s Word cannot return to Him void without accomplishing its purpose – Isaiah 55:10-11.
Saturate your mind therefore DAILY with God’s Word in the Holy Bible and your words will be saturated with God’s Word and promises and your life will automatically follow suit.
Doubt of God’s Word – James 1:5-8 - Another mistake people make is trying to figure out how the confession of God’s Word will come to pass. Doing that would mean trying to take on God’s responsibility, an exercise in futility.
Once you begin to do this, you are manifesting doubt in God’s ability to help you and this hinders your prayer.
Your concern should therefore be to confess God’s Word in prayer, believe it, thank God and then leave God to action His Word because He cannot fail.
