WHY DO YOU DYE YOUR HAIR?

Every human being passes through an ageing process from childhood into adulthood and in the process observe that the colour of their hair changes from dark to gray.

Some are uncomfortable with gray hair and resort to applying all manner of dyes to make the hair remain dark.

Their reason for such act especially amongst the womenfolk is probably because they do not want friends, colleagues and other people to know they are getting old. For others, they want to feel young at heart. This is also why some resort to plastic surgeries to take away wrinkles on their skins to make them look young again.

Even with all these additions and modifications, the body ageing clock is still ticking as we sleep and wake up every single day of our lives.

What most of us fail to realize is that it is God who created us and also created the ageing process for everyone. The Word of God tells us in Leviticus 19:32 (AMP), “You shall rise up before the hoary (gray) head and honor the face of the old man and [reverently] fear your God. I am the Lord.”

This is God’s command to honor the elderly with gray hair. It is also written in Proverbs 16:31, “The hoary head is a crown of beauty and glory if it is found in the way of righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation).”

This is speaking of elderly people who by God’s mercy and grace have found and known our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and who are living lives that are in sync with God’s Word in the Holy Bible. God says their gray hair is a crown of beauty and glory if it is found in the way of righteousness.

It is also written in Proverbs 20:29, “The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is their gray head [suggesting wisdom and experience].”

Dear friend, what this means is that the gray hair is God’s creation for humans as part of the ageing process and so trying to alter it using dyes and other cosmetics is a direct rebellion against God, which is a huge sin and will certainly land such people in HELL unless they repent and desist from it.

Moreover, medical research has shown that the chemicals contained in dyes are very harmful to the human health and many have suffered severe damage to their scalps using these toxic chemicals.

Always remember that there is nothing God cannot do and so if you feel uncomfortable with your gray hair, rather than resort to using toxic chemicals to damage your skin and sin against God, talk to God and tell Him what you want and He will respond with the appropriate answer because as our Creator, He alone knows what is best for us.

I have once heard of a miracle where God changed a lady’s hair completely from gray to dark during a church program.

Dear friend, please do not rebel against God as you can see His Word is clear that gray hair is part of the ageing process.
