PREACHER, WHAT DO YOU TELL PEOPLE ABOUT JESUS?
Dear friends, just like the Word of God
tells us about the last days, we are witnessing a flurry of preachers who are
telling people about our Jesus Christ.
However, the majority of these preachers
are focusing on materialism in this world and not spirituality to gain access
into heaven.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said clearly that if you seek first His
kingdom and His righteousness, all other things would be added unto you -
Matthew 6:33.
We see the same message in Proverbs 21:21, "He who earnestly seeks after and
craves righteousness, mercy, and loving-kindness will find life in addition to
righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God) and honor."
If righteousness is what a Christian or a
child of God should seek first in order to get all other blessings from God,
why then are most preachers doing the opposite, preaching prosperity instead of
righteousness?
For some preachers, they believe prosperity
is an easier message to sell than righteousness.
For others, they do not want
to offend their congregation and lose them, especially the wealthy ones if they
preach about sin and unholy living. For these preachers, they depend on humans
for the support of their ministry.
What these preachers fail to realize is
that it is the same Jesus Christ Who gives wealth and every blessing under
heaven.
It is the same Jesus Who called them to serve Him to preach the Gospel
of Repentance and Salvation found only in Him (Jesus).
It is the same Jesus Christ Who has warned
us to be prepared for His second coming, which is imminent when we consider the
signs of the times in today's world as Jesus prophesied thousands of years ago
in Matthew 24.
If today's preachers can remember that this
world does not end here and there is judgement and life after death, they would
remain focused.
It is not the wealthy church member that
sustains the church. It is Jesus Who does.
It is not the preacher that owns the
church, but it is Jesus Who owns every ministry where His Word is preached
sincerely because the Gospel is about Jesus and not material things.
Dear preacher, today's message is a warning
to you to desist from preaching only prosperity to mislead people into thinking
that is all there is to the Gospel.
If you must preach prosperity, do ensure to
preach the full message, which is, that prosperity comes from God and everyone
who belongs to God will prosper as long as he or she follows after
righteousness as God's Word has clearly stated in Matthew 6:33 and Proverbs
21:21.
Do not seek to dilute the message because
you as a preacher will give account and as the Word of God says, the judgement
for preachers would be stricter than for the congregation (James 3:1) because
the preacher is anointed for the purpose of doing God's bidding and not his or
her own. Indeed, every human being was created by God to serve God -
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14.
Always preach righteousness and always
point people in the direction of Jesus Christ the Word of God as their role
model so that they can prosper here on earth when they sincerely obey and
practise what has been preached and then make it to heaven by God's grace when
they leave this world.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His
Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus' Most Holy Name, Amen.
