GOD CANNOT VIOLATE YOUR WILL (2)
John
5:5-6
“There was a certain man there who had suffered with a deep-seated and lingering disorder for thirty-eight years.
“There was a certain man there who had suffered with a deep-seated and lingering disorder for thirty-eight years.
6 When Jesus noticed
him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had already been a long time in
that condition, He said to him, Do you want to become well? [Are you really in
earnest about getting well?]”
Dear people of God, have you ever pondered over the question
our Lord Jesus Christ asked the paralysed man at the pool of Bethesda in
today’s lead Bible text? Why would Jesus, Who could heal someone, ask why the
man wanted to be well?
Jesus asked that question for two reasons: (1) He knew as we
are told that the man had been in that condition for a long time, 38 years,
even before the Lord Jesus came to earth as a human being and (2) Jesus wanted
to be sure the man had not given up on any desire of wanting to get well.
Notice that in his response, the man told Jesus how much
effort he had been making, albeit fruitless, to enter the pool to receive his
healing each time an angel came to stir it – verse 7.
It was that response that cleared the way for the Lord Jesus
Christ to be able to heal the sick man. I tell you, dear friend, if the man had
given a statement of lost hope, Jesus would have left him there because there
is nothing He (Jesus) would have been able to do for him.
Just hold on a second and let me show you proof
from the Holy Bible in Mark 6:5-6, 5 And He (Jesus) was
not able to do even one work of power there, except that He laid His hands on a
few sickly people [and] cured them.
6 And He marveled because
of their unbelief (their lack of faith in Him).
This is about the Lord Jesus Christ being unable to perform
one major miracle in His hometown because of the people’s unbelief, expressed
in their wrong words of course.
Indeed, those wrong words emanated from their wrong thoughts
in their minds.
Dear friend, this is why no matter how much prayer is said
for a person who is unwilling to believe God’s Word to have faith, it would not
work. Where the person is also refusing to let go of the cause of the sickness,
no amount of prayer will work.
This again, is the freewill God has given humans and God
cannot violate this freewill for any reason.
Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the
Redeemed Christian Church of God once gave a true story of a lady he was
praying for continuously and this lady was not getting any better.
In response to his question as to why the woman was not
getting well despite the prayers, God then told Adeboye to ask the woman the
question.
The woman then said that she did not want to be well because
before she fell sick, her husband used to stay out late at clubs before coming
home but now that she was sick, he comes home straight from work to be with
her!!
Dear friend, can you now see why certain prayers are not
answered? God will never violate your freewill because every one of us will
account for it and so no one would have any excuse to say it was God or the
devil that made him or her take whatever decision taken.
Since you now know this, how would use your freewill
henceforth? Align it in your mind with God’s Word in the Holy Bible and you
will receive astounding miracles when you pray to God in the Name above every
other name, the Name Jesus Christ our Lord.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act
on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Merciful Name, Amen.
