CHASING THE WRONG THINGS
Revelation 14:13 (AMPC)
“Then I heard further [perceiving the distinct words of] a voice from heaven, saying, Write this: Blessed (happy, to be envied) are the dead from now on who die in the Lord! Yes, blessed (happy, to be envied indeed), says the Spirit, [in] that they may rest from their labors, for their works (deeds) do follow (attend, accompany) them!”
Dear people of God, the attention people pay these days to the wrong things is really alarming.
Some governments are fighting to acquire Nuclear power to use most possibly to destroy other nations while some are fighting to acquire territories outside of the current nation in which they reside with the belief that all will be well once they get their nation.
From Adolf Hitler of Germany to Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan to Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe to Mobutu Sese-Seko of former Zaire (now DR Congo) to Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines to Idi Amin of Uganda, we see people who rode on a popular mandate of their country folks and after acquiring power, turned round to abuse the same country folks.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the only One Who can make a promise and keep it - there is no human being that can deliver on all promises.
As today’s lead text reminds us, what is important is living and dying in Christ, that is, having a genuine relationship with Christ Jesus till the end of your stay here on this earth.
It really does not matter what you believe or what faith you practice or what your ideologies about life is. Any life outside of Christ will end in doom in the hereafter.
The Holy Bible tells us in Philippians 3:20, “But we are citizens of the state (commonwealth, homeland) which is in heaven, and from it also we earnestly and patiently await [the coming of] the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [as] Savior,”
Even with this truth of God’s Word in the Holy Bible, you still find some who profess Christianity holding fast to their ethnic nationalities and displaying deep seated hatred for their fellow Christians and non Christians alike who are of another ethnic nationality.
How unfortunate, how ignorant and how sad!
The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 13:2, “And if I have prophetic powers (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God's love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody).”
A Word is enough for the wise.
Dear friend, let your focus always be on heaven, the things of heaven, your personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and your fellow human beings and obedience to God’s commandments in the Holy Bible, for when you exit this world, nothing else would matter except these things.
God is going to judge us, not by our material achievements here on earth but on our simple and unequivocal obedience to His Word in the Holy Bible.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Merciful Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
