WALKING WITH GOD HAS IMMENSE BENEFITS (2)
A friend of mine
told me a very sad tale yesterday about how some 5 armed robbers attacked her
and her family some 2 weeks ago.
The details were
gory and she said what they heard about the injuries these criminals inflicted
on her neighbours makes her case sound very mild.
As
she was telling me this sad incident, my mind went to God’s Word in Psalm
91:9-10, “Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the
Most High your dwelling place,
10 There shall no
evil befall you, nor any plague or
calamity come near your tent (home).”
One question
anyone reading this text would want to ask is, did God fail this lady and her
family even when the Scripture says no evil or plague or calamity would come
near her home?
The answer,
dear friend, is no. God did not fail her because of His integrity and
faithfulness to keep His Word always.
On the
other hand, unfortunately, a lot of people are ignorant of what is their right
as Christians and so they suffer the devil’s torment in their ignorance until
the day they know and appropriate what rightfully belongs to them.
Many others
are not living right so they are unable to appropriate what is theirs in
Christ.
If you
must access the benefits of walking with God, dear friend, your walk with God
must be sincere and one of total obedience!
There is
simply no room for compromise when you are walking with God. Since God cannot
fail to keep His promises in His Word, a sensible person must learn to obey God
to be qualified to appropriate God’s covenant promises.
Do I sound
harsh and uncaring? Far from it.
On the
other hand, dear friend, I’m only trying to let you know what you are missing
if you are not yet a Christian or if you claim to be one and are still living a
compromised life.
When my
friend told me her story, I empathized with her and also gave her Holy Bible Scriptures
in Psalm 91 and 121 to read and meditate so I can discuss further later with
her about the promises God gives in those Scriptures.
We can
simply save ourselves a lot of pain, suffering and discomfort only if we decide
to walk sincerely with God.
Not that
one would not encounter challenges in this life but with Christ Jesus is the
assurance, always, of victory over all of them.
How do
I know that? God’s Word tells us in Psalm 34:19, “Many evils confront the [consistently] righteous, but
the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
Choose
Jesus Christ today, live a consistently righteous lifestyle and appropriate
what is rightfully yours as a child of God.
May the
good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others
in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
