WALKING A DEAD END ROAD

1 John 5:10-12
“He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.

11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”


Dear people of God, today’s Scripture text is self explanatory. I urge you to take time to read it over and over again and meditate until it sinks into your spirit.

The very first statement of the text is significant as whoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God must have evidence in his life as proof of the relationship.

This evidence includes total freedom from sin (1 Corinthians 3:5-6), from all manner of sickness (Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24), total freedom from control and dominion of all powers of darkness (Colossians 1:13; Luke 10:19), freedom to live in righteousness and at peace with all humans (Hebrews 12:14), and spiritual and material prosperity  (3 John 1:2; Ephesians 1:3; 2 Peter 1:3) among other blessings.

The bottom line is, anyone who does not have the Son of God does not have life. In essence, he or she is walking a dead end road that leads nowhere except damnation.

This is not a consequence anyone should experience because there is no end to it – it is for eternity.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL VIOLENCE IN PEOPLE?

Hebrews 12:14 (AMPC)  “ Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration  and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.”   Dear people of God, I read sometime in December 2019 ago of a police inspector in Nigeria who shot and killed his colleague, a corporal, and the same shot injured another colleague, a deputy Superintendent of police after which the police inspector took his own life.   What could have led to such violence?   I also read of another unfortunate story of a lady killed December 25, 2019, Christmas Day, by her husband who had beaten her to a coma and then ran away after discovering what he had done. GOD CANNOT VIOLATE HIS WORD

  Psalm 89:34  “My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.” Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text in Psalm 89:34 is a profound statement by God Almighty and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What this statement from God means is that there is nothing He has said in His Word that He will fail to perform. A sensible Christian who understands this will look for what God has said by careful, meditative study of God’s Word found only in the Holy Bible, thank God joyously for it, claim it and God will surely perform what His Word has stated.
