THE SPOUSE WHO CHEATS
Hebrews 13:4 (AMPC)
“Marriage is to be honoured by all, and husbands and wives must be faithful to each other. God will judge those who are immoral and those who commit adultery.”
Dear people of God, a friend of mine told me an experience he had at a church program he attended some years ago.
There were many married couples present at the gathering of about 5,000 people and the officiating minister asked a question, “Since you have been married, if you as a man know you have never beaten your wife or cheated on her with another woman, raise up your hand.”
My friend said only 4 men, himself inclusive raised up their hand in the entire congregation of married folks.
That testimony gives a grim picture of the society in which we live today.
The moral decadence in many of today’s marriages has hit a very dangerous low that acts that were previously termed a taboo are now openly celebrated.
I recently read a story of a married man and father of 6 children who was caught having intercourse with his neighbour’s female puppy or baby dog.
Today I saw another story of a married woman who commits adultery with several sin partners and she had the audacity to go to court to seek divorce from her husband and had the guts to come there with one of her sin partners.
Her reason for the divorce is that the man was not taking care of her financially.
Many years ago, I heard the true story of a man whose wife reported him to their priest about adultery. When the man came to see the priest, he admitted adultery. He said that his wife had been dutiful and had not done anything wrong to him but that he loves variety, his reason for engaging in adultery.
I also heard another true story of a man who impregnated his house help and when his wife reported him to their priest, he said the house help was the one who cooked his meals, washed his clothes and ran errands for him so he began to see her as his wife.
I have been told of a woman whose husband went abroad in search of greener pastures and left her in the care of a senior pastor of their church.
When the man eventually got a resident permit, he came back for his wife and 4 children to take them with him.
The result of the paternity tests done as a requirement at the embassy showed that the last 2 kids conceived when the man was abroad were not his. It was then the wife admitted that the senior pastor of the church was the father of the kids.
Dear friend, anyone can give excuse for adultery including the claim of financial irresponsibility of the husband, which is a common excuse amongst women.
For the men, the most common reasons for adultery include the need for the “trophy” concubine when they are financially stable and looking for either a child when there is none or a male child where the children are all female, as if female children are not given by God.
Today’s lead Holy Bible text is clear that God will judge the immoral and the adulterous.
Whatever your spouse has done to you, please note that if you are married, you cannot divorce, neither can you commit adultery as an excuse.
You can only pray to God Who has the Ultimate power to restore your marriage and change your financial situation for best. God can do all things, so report all matters to Him.
Do not allow anyone to mislead you into sinning against God in the name of tradition.
