WHAT PURPOSE DOES ANGER SERVE?
Human beings get
angry at times. Some are able to control their anger while others explode and
do irrational things. In fact, in extreme cases, people have been known to maim
or outrightly kill fellow humans in a fit of anger.
So, what purpose
does anger serve for the person venting it? Anger does not benefit you in any
way. First of all it affects your health in negative ways.
I had an aunt who
once raised an accusation of a missing sum of money she had kept and while in her
angry state, she had a heart attack and died as a result.
After her burial,
the money was found where she had hidden it and forgotten at the time!
Secondly, anger
opens the door to satan to attack you and cause harm. This is the reason why unsaved
people or non-Christians are able to commit atrocious acts in their moments of
extreme anger because a demon spirit is urging them to act.
This is why they
are able to kill or hurt others and then having realized what they have done,
they run away. Then the law enforcement agencies begin to look for them to
bring to justice for their crime.
The Word of God
says in Ephesian 4:26-27 (NLT), And “don’t sin by letting
anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for
anger gives a foothold to the devil.
My high school principal used to tell us that the
difference between anger and danger is the letter D, which stands for the
devil.
Let us see what God’s Word says about anger in Ecclesiastes 7:9 (AMPC), “Do not be quick in spirit to be angry or vexed, for anger and vexation lodge in the bosom of fools.”
So as you can see, dear friend, anger does not
serve any purpose other than create danger for the person and label one as a
fool.
Having realised the dangers of anger, the way to
end anger is to become a child of God. When you become a child of God, He frees
you from the control and dominion of darkness (Colossians 1:13) and so satan
cannot have any hold on you to make you do evil.
As a child of God, you can command the evil spirit
of anger to depart from a place in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Next time
you find yourself getting angry, just do this and you will realize that a
calmness will come over you immediately.
In fact, as a child of God, even if someone else is
angry or fighting at a place where you are, you can either call the name of
Jesus Christ continuously or command the evil spirit of anger to disappear in
the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the atmosphere would change from extreme
danger to calmness.
You can now see the beauty of becoming a child of
God and the authority over evil spirits in the name of Jesus the Lord gives
you.
There is power and authority in the name of the
Lord Jesus Christ. I urge you dear friend, to surrender your life sincerely this
day to the Lord Jesus Christ and begin to enjoy the true freedom that is given to
all sincere believers in the Kingdom of God.
