BEARING FALSE WITNESS
Today on one of the crime and investigation stations on
cable TV I was watching a true story of a man who had killed his spouse and
coaxed his kids to tell lies that he was at home during the period of the
murder.
During the course of the police investigations, it was
discovered that the man used to physically assault the lady who eventually
moved out of her matrimonial home.
The husband started painting a terrible picture of their
mum to his kids, stirred hatred of their mum and it was not difficult for him
to get them to tell lies to cover up for their father’s misdeeds.
The man had told his kids that the reason he wanted
them to lie was that the police would arrest him and take him away from them
and they would have to live without any parent.
However, the police eventually discovered the entire web
of lies and deceit; the man was arrested and with evidence he was put away in
prison for life.
Dear friend, are you a parent that teaches your child
to tell lies on your behalf? I can tell you that you are destroying the life of
that child.
It is sad to see parents teach their kids to tell lies to
others but these same parents get very angry when the same kids lie to them.
As a parent, you are to always be
an example of moral and spiritual values to your children and not lead them
astray by bad example.
The Bible tells us in Exodus 23:1-2, “YOU
SHALL not repeat or raise
a false report; you shall not join with the wicked to be an unrighteous
witness.
2 You
shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you bear witness at a trial so
as to side with a multitude to pervert justice.”
This means everyone will account for
their actions.
The Bible further tells us in
Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the
way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent], and when he
is old he will not depart from it.”
This again means parents will
account for the training given to their children. When you train your child to
do evil, both you and the society will suffer for it in future.
If your parents trained you in
falsehood, today and now is the time to repent before it is too late. Eternal damnation
awaits anyone who violates God’s righteous commandments in the Holy Bible.
