KNOWING JESUS CHRIST SHOULD BE THE FIRST THING
A little while ago I was discussing with my spouse on the
importance of one knowing the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age.
Most teenagers want freedom to do the things that
interest them now without caring a hoot about the consequences of their
actions.
So for those of them whose parents have not introduced
them to the Lord Jesus Christ in their younger ages, it is a constant battle
with their parents over doing what is right and keeping from doing what is
wrong.
However, as they grow older and become parents
themselves, some of them learn from their terrible mistakes and realize the
value of what their parents were trying to teach them during their teenage
years.
For some others, their journey continues on a downward
spiral until they drop dead either from narcotics and other substance abuse or
some terrible accident or street violence.
Dear friend, it does not have to be so. You see, the
Word of God tells us in Proverbs 22:6, “Train
up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or
bent], and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
It is the compulsory duty of parents to introduce their
children to Jesus Christ, teach their children the Word of God and the
importance of obeying God’s commandments.
If you abdicate this responsibility to the school and
church, you may regret it later in life when the child becomes rebellious first
as a teenager and then as an adult.
This is also the reason why a person must know the Lord
Jesus Christ first before he or she acquires wealth. The reason is because
recognizing Jesus Christ as the source of your wealth will always keep you
humble to praise and worship Jesus.
However, if the wealth comes first, it takes the grace
of God for such person to come to know Jesus Christ because the person would
feel since he has wealth, he or she does not need Jesus.
This is the most dangerous way for one to live because
it exposes the person to spiritual danger and satan is always at hand to
afflict the person as he (satan) wants.
Anyone who departs this world at death without a personal
knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ is doomed forever and condemned to eternal
damnation.
Dear friend, my prayer is that you and I will not
experience this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
This is why you must know Jesus, teach about Jesus to
your children and grandchildren and also go out on evangelism to tell others
about Jesus Christ.
It is genuine love for Jesus that makes one do these
things as I am doing now writing this article you are reading.
Your children would forever live to appreciate you when
you teach them about Jesus and lead them in obedience to Jesus’ commandments in
the Holy Bible with the example they see in your own lifestyle and not just in
your words alone.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today,
act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
