A CHRISTIAN HAS NO BUSINESS WITH SICKNESS

1 Peter 2:24

“He (Jesus Christ) personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.”


Dear people of God, whenever I make the statement that is the topic of today’s message, people are always surprised Christians inclusive. I don’t blame them because I was once like that until the Lord made me know my rights as a Christian.

The general belief amongst people is that sickness is a normal part of life. Most people, Christians inclusive, believe it is normal for a child to be sick because children play a lot, pick things and put in their mouths.

They believe the body is like a machine that needs routine service and so sickness once in a while is not out of place. Majority of people also believe as one gets older, the body slows down, loses its active function, sickness comes and then the person dies from sickness.

It is also not uncommon to hear Christians says “maybe there is a purpose from God in this sickness” or “God is using this sickness to tell me something.”

Dear friend, as realistic as these statements may sound, in this same ignorance, I suffered for 19 years until the Lord showed me my rights in Christ. Today’s lead Holy Bible text is one of many Scriptures to confirm that a Christian has no business with sickness.

I had a condition that developed one day in February1998 such that whenever I sweat, my body begins to itch me. It was so bad that I was scared of having my bath in the evenings whenever I returned home from work because my body would itch me for between 10 - 15 minutes non-stop.

Even if I decided to bathe, it had to be very hot water that burns the body in order not to experience prolonged itching after bathing. I prayed, I fasted, I visited the hospital, ran tests, took medication all to no avail.

I even went online to see if I could identify the cause through other people’s experiences but I was unable to come up with anything and so I suffered in silence.

It was when I saw, believed and confessed what God said in His Word that my 19 years of avoidable suffering ended in early 2017, Glory be to God for what happened on the Cross of Calvary!

I say “avoidable suffering” because that Scripture was there all along and even though I had read it severally, I did not comprehend the impact, not until God and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ opened my eyes of understanding.

You see, when Jesus Christ our Lord shed His precious blood on the Cross of Calvary, He took away our sins just as the first part of today’s lead Holy Bible text tells us. Every Christian knows this for a fact and it is our belief and acceptance of this fact that gives us Salvation in Christ.

In addition, Jesus also took away our sicknesses and diseases by whatever name. The Bible says, by His Stripes, you have been healed. This means, Jesus has taken it away and you need not bear it again!!

This statement is simple but it is profound. I can tell you dear friend, that to the glory of God Almighty, I have not experienced that terrible body itching again since early 2017 to date.

Not only that, I have never had to take any medication for any ailment because I now know my rights in Jesus Christ. This is the truth and it is applicable to every Christian who believes.

It has nothing to do with how a person’s body is constituted but it has EVERYTHING to do with your faith in the Word of God.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL VIOLENCE IN PEOPLE?

Hebrews 12:14 (AMPC)  “ Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration  and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.”   Dear people of God, I read sometime in December 2019 ago of a police inspector in Nigeria who shot and killed his colleague, a corporal, and the same shot injured another colleague, a deputy Superintendent of police after which the police inspector took his own life.   What could have led to such violence?   I also read of another unfortunate story of a lady killed December 25, 2019, Christmas Day, by her husband who had beaten her to a coma and then ran away after discovering what he had done. GOD CANNOT VIOLATE HIS WORD

  Psalm 89:34  “My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.” Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text in Psalm 89:34 is a profound statement by God Almighty and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What this statement from God means is that there is nothing He has said in His Word that He will fail to perform.
