ONLY ONE THING IS REQUIRED FOR ALL HUMANS
Dear friend, so many things bother us in this life
and one major issue is money. In fact, the Bible says this about money in
Ecclesiastes 10:19, “A feast is made for
laughter, And wine makes merry; But money answers everything.
Money is required to pay
bills – pay rent or buy a house, pay for food, clothing, electricity, water,
waste, school fees, help others in need (scholarships, food, shelter, clothing,
etc), settle hospital bills, take a vacation, buy a car, celebrate birthdays,
weddings, burials, etc.
Majority of people in
this world are simply struggling to pay their bills every single day.
When the Lord Jesus went
to visit his friends, the family of Lazarus, Mary and Martha, He (Jesus) sat in
the sitting room teaching the Word of God.
Martha was busy in the
kitchen preparing things with which to serve the Lord while Mary her sister sat
at the Lord’s feet listening to His teaching of God’s Word.
After a while of doing the hard work in the kitchen
all alone, Martha in frustration came to meet the Lord and I want us to examine
the conversation that took place thereafter as recorded in Luke 10:40-42, “But Martha was distracted with much
serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister
has left me to serve alone? Therefore, tell her to help me.”
41And
Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled
about many things. 42But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen
that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
Dear friend, anyone who
for the first time reads the above response of the Lord Jesus to Martha’s
complaint would first be shocked as Martha certainly was because that was not
the response she was expecting.
However, the Lord Jesus
Christ as God needed to make a very valuable point, which is the focus of today’s
message, which is, that we humans trouble ourselves over so many things in
life.
The Lord Jesus made it
categorically clear to Martha and by extension to all humans that Mary has
chosen the better part, the One Thing that is needed by everyone, and that
better part would not be taken from her.
Now, what is that better
part, you would ask? That better part is sitting at the Lord’s feet to hear the
Word of God.
Good for us as humans,
the Word of God today is found complete in written form in the Holy Bible.
A second question may
immediately follow, which is, how does the Word of God pay one’s bills? How does
it solve medical problems and all other problems of this life?
Dear friend, I can tell
you for FREE that I was once ignorant of the power and efficacy of God’s Word. But
you see, ignorance of God’s Word would only serve to blind someone to the
solution to his or her every problem in this life.
The Word of God in the
Holy Bible contains genuine, eternal information on how to resolve every human
problem. How is that so, you may ask?
When you study it, you
would discover the truth for yourself.
The Word of God is a
living organism for it contains the Holy Spirit of God that is alive and active
– Hebrews 4:12.
The Word of God spoken
over any untoward situation in life would resolve the untoward situation
favourably.
The Word of God contains
specific information on how to deal with specific issues. Once you believe it,
declare it and obey what it says, I can assure you that you would get the exact
same results prescribed therein.
Unfortunately, all I am
writing here is the very thing the devil, demons and their human agents do not
want all humans to know, understand and practice.
This is because once
humans achieve this feat, there is nothing these agents of darkness can do to
them successfully as the knowledgeable humans would always come out of the bad situation
victorious by virtue of their belief, understanding and application of what is
contained in God’s infallible Word in the Holy Bible.
This is why the Lord
Jesus Christ says in John 8:31b-32, “If
you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth
shall make you free.”
The FREEDOM the Lord Jesus Christ promises to those who abide in His
Word is freedom from the under listed:
(1)
Sin and its bondage
(2)
Demonic oppression by satan, demons and their human agents
(3)
Poverty
(4)
Sickness
(5)
Negative emotions like anger, malice, hatred, racism, bitterness,
unforgiveness, fear, anxiety, worry, doubt, etc
(6)
And so on and so forth
And finally, the Lord Jesus Christ promises to all who abide in His Word
genuinely, an eternal life with Him in Heaven once you depart this world.
Is this not a great thing that God does for us through His Son and Holy
Spirit as we study, believe and obey His Word in the Bible? Of course it is!!
So you can see how much love God has for us and for anyone who decides
to become God’s child by departing from sin and coming to the Lord Jesus Christ
in truth and in spirit.
I would rather be with the Lord Jesus Christ to enjoy all these benefits
than suffer in ignorance and live in constant fear of poverty, death, sickness
and all other unknown traumas of this life that those who do not know Jesus
experience on a daily basis.
Come to Jesus Christ today and now, dear friend, for tomorrow or later
may be too late for you.
May the good Lord bless
you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most
Powerful Name, Amen.
