ONLY ONE THING IS REQUIRED FOR ALL HUMANS (2)

Dear people of God, in my first post under this topic, we considered the FREEDOM the Lord Jesus Christ gives to all who come to Him in Spirit and in Truth.

We saw how people trouble themselves over so many things in life and that only One Thing, God’s infallible Word in the Holy Bible, is required as a solution to every human problem.

However, there are a number of people who erroneously turn to alcohol as a solution to their problems.

Let us see what God’s Word says on alcohol in Proverbs 31:4-5, “It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to desire strong drink, [Eccl. 10:17; Hos. 4:11.]

5 Lest they drink and forget the law and what it decrees, and pervert the justice due any of the afflicted.

This Scripture verse is speaking about the danger of a country’s rulers indulging in taking alcohol and how it would make them forget the law and pervert justice against the oppressed, a very dangerous situation when it happens.

Let us examine another Scripture in Proverbs 23:29-35 (AMPC), “Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness and dimness of eyes?

30 Those who tarry long at the wine, those who go to seek and try mixed wine. [Prov. 20:1; Eph. 5:18.]

31 Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the wineglass, when it goes down smoothly.

32 At the last it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder.

33 [Under the influence of wine] your eyes will behold strange things [and loose women] and your mind will utter things turned the wrong way [untrue, incorrect, and petulant].

34 Yes, you will be [as unsteady] as he who lies down in the midst of the sea, and [as open to disaster] as he who lies upon the top of a mast.

35 You will say, They struck me, but I was not hurt! They beat me [as with a hammer], but I did not feel it! When shall I awake? I will crave and seek more wine again [and escape reality].”

You can see, dear friend, that alcohol is just a temporary escape from your problems and when you become sober, those problems remain for you to resolve.

Once again, I tell you the truth, my friend, that you can only resolve your problems when you turn to God and His Word in the Holy Bible.

There are Christians who have become very sad and frustrated in life because they have tried God’s Word and it appeared not to have worked for them and then they turned to alcohol.

But alcohol is not the solution. God’s Word remains the ONLY solution.

If as a Christian you have tried God’s Word and it appears not to be working, then speak to God to show you what the problem is and I know my God and Father of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will respond.

Let us examine a Scripture to buttress this point in Isaiah 59:1-4, “1 BEHOLD, THE Lord's hand is not shortened at all, that it cannot save, nor His ear dull with deafness, that it cannot hear.

2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.

3 For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue mutters wickedness.

4 None sues or calls in righteousness [but for the sake of doing injury to others–to take some undue advantage]; no one goes to law honestly and pleads [his case] in truth; they trust in emptiness, worthlessness and futility, and speaking lies! They conceive mischief and bring forth evil!”

When God fails to respond to our prayers, there is a reason and only He can show us the Truth.

When you make corrections to your life as God expects as stated in His Word, then He will respond in answer to your prayer to resolve your problems.

Beyond that, I know God’s Word works. I am living proof that God’s Word works.

Alcohol will never work but only cause more problems for you and even for others around you.

Turn this day to the Lord Jesus Christ, the infallible Word of God to help you resolve your problems in life.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word this day, meditate and act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL VIOLENCE IN PEOPLE?

Hebrews 12:14 (AMPC)  “ Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration  and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.”   Dear people of God, I read sometime in December 2019 ago of a police inspector in Nigeria who shot and killed his colleague, a corporal, and the same shot injured another colleague, a deputy Superintendent of police after which the police inspector took his own life.   What could have led to such violence?   I also read of another unfortunate story of a lady killed December 25, 2019, Christmas Day, by her husband who had beaten her to a coma and then ran away after discovering what he had done. GOD CANNOT VIOLATE HIS WORD

  Psalm 89:34  “My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.” Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text in Psalm 89:34 is a profound statement by God Almighty and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What this statement from God means is that there is nothing He has said in His Word that He will fail to perform.
