ONLY ONE THING IS REQUIRED FOR ALL HUMANS (4)
Dear friends, we have
seen in the last 3 weeks various posts on this topic and how it is that the
Word of Almighty God is what is required in every human’s life as the ultimate
solution to every human problem.
We have seen how alcohol
as an escape route for some people is not a solution. For those who indulge in
it, they discover that the problem is still there even when they are sober from
alcohol and no matter how much alcohol they consume, it never frees them from
the problems they have, awaiting a solution.
We have also seen how
turning to prostitution especially for some men and more of women, as a means
of raising money to pay bills, will not work but only serves to destroy those
who engage in it.
Today, we will discuss
how some turn to use of narcotics as an escape route from their problems.
In today’s world, we see
how people, rich and middle class, young and old use narcotics – cocaine,
heroin, marijuana, methamphetamines and other stimulants to excite themselves
temporarily to a state of euphoria as an escape from their problems.
When they sober up and
their bodies get used to these narcotics, they usually look for larger doses
and this is a very expensive habit.
You see the abusers of
these substances become desperate as they run out of cash required to feed
their habit having sold their possessions.
Some steal from others
and continue to find illegal and unlawful ways to get high.
What does God’s Word say about the use of
narcotics? The Holy Bible states thus in Galatians 5:19-21, “Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are
clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency,
20 Idolatry,
sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions
(dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies),
21 Envy,
drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously,
that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
In the original Greek in
which the above Scripture text was written, the word “sorcery” or “witchcraft”
used in verse 20 is the Greek word “Pharmakeia” or drug use.
In essence, the Apostle
Paul, under inspiration from God’s Holy Spirit, was telling his audience and
every generation of Christians thereafter by extension that those who engage in
vices amongst others including drug use would not inherit the kingdom of God.
Dear friend, there is no need to belabour the
point because it is very clear - the use of narcotics is a sin against God
Almighty and those engaged in such destructive habit must stop forthwith.
Narcotics destroy the
body, which the Bible calls the temple of God’s Holy Spirit and warns us that
those who destroy this temple, the Lord would also destroy – 1 Corinthians
3:16-17; 6:19-20.
I will once again
emphasize that there is no problem in this world without a solution no matter
how grievous.
However, some solutions
are temporary while some are permanent. Some solutions lead to destruction
while some lead to life.
I can recommend just ONE
SOLUTION to you that would lead to life that is eternal and that SOLUTION is
called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Word of God, the Messiah, Redeemer,
Saviour, Master, Healer, Helper, and so on and so forth.
With Him you must be
victorious and you must overcome. He can never disappoint you. He loves you
with an everlasting love and He wants you to know this as I pass this message
to you.
What is that problem you
have? Is it marital, financial, spiritual, psychological, mental (a relative), emotional,
etc?
The first thing I want
you to recognize and understand, dear friend, is that this problem, whatever it
is, has its origin directly or indirectly from satan. This is all satan knows
to do – to kill, to steal and to destroy.
Just understand that
satan cannot create but he can destroy because all in him is darkness.
I also want you today to
recognize and understand that Jesus can and will provide you a solution.
The solution is
contained in His Word in the Holy Bible. You cannot get it anywhere else. Just come
to Jesus Christ today and you will be amazed at what He can and would do for
you.
Do not tarry any longer.
Come today and now to Jesus Christ, for tomorrow or later may be too late for
you.
May the good Lord bless
you as you heed His Word this day, meditate and act on it and share with others
in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
