THE SENSIBLE WAY TO PRAY

John 15:7-8 (AMPC)
“7 If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My Words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.


8 When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honoured and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine.”

Dear people of God, most little children see their dad or mum as super heroes who can attend to their every need.

Whenever they have any need, the first persons they to run to is either dad or mum depending on who attends to them promptly.

A loving dad or mum would promptly provide the solution to the child’s request.

There are also times the parent makes a promise to the child and the child continues to remind the parent about what he or she promised until it is done. As a result, some parents are careful to commit themselves because they know the child would never stop asking.

There is a Book of God’s promise to His children, which is the Holy Bible.

For clarity sake, I want to state here that just as an earthly parent would be willing to attend to the needs of the obedient child, so also is God our Heavenly Father willing to attend to the needs of His obedient child, that is, the child who deliberately and carefully ensures to attend to and obey God’s commandments in the Holy Bible.

Unlike some parents who are limited by their resources and at times require time to provide the item or items of promise to their child, God is unlimited in resources and is able to meet all needs of His children immediately.

Therefore, when you as God’s child want to pray or communicate with your Heavenly Father on your need, the first and sensible thing to do is to find out what God has said concerning that need in His Word.

For instance, if you are searching for a job with which to earn income to pay your bills and you want to pray to God about it, the first thing you should find out is what God has said concerning a job.

Fortunately for God’s children, there are many Scriptures concerning this but I will mention just one. First, I want us to examine Hebrews 13:5 (NIV), “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;

never will I forsake you.”

You can see that God has said He will never leave or forsake us and so we must keep our lives free from the love of money and be content with what we have.

A sensible Christian who knows this Scripture would first thank God for His promise here in prayer and use it to ask for a righteous job or business that does not offend God.

A righteous job or business is one that gives glory to God. For instance, a child of God should never work in a Hotel or Bar or Casino or place where alcohol or cigarettes is manufactured or sold.

A child of God must never start or invest in any business selling alcohol, immoral music, movies or literature, women’s trousers, make up, hair attachment, lipstick, cosmetics, etc.

In addition, the Scripture tells us that the Christian should never compromise to get the righteous job because God would provide it. It also means when God provides the job, the Christian does not have to become desperate to progress but to always be content.

The Christian should remember to always thank God and ensure to pay his tithes and first fruits on the job or business.

When the Christian has gotten the job and wants to rise very fast, again, he needs to go to God in prayer. However, again, the Christian must first study God’s Word to know what it says concerning promotion.

Let us examine God’s Word in Deuteronomy 28:13, “The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.

God has clearly promised His children here that He, God Almighty would make them the head and not the tail when they pay attention and carefully obey His commandments. God further promises that His children would always be at the top and never at the bottom as long as they study and obey His Word.

Dear friend, this is one Scripture God’s child should take to God in prayer to first thank Him for this promise and to remind Him to fulfil the promise in his life.

When the child of God is ill and wants to experience Divine healing, he should first study God’s Word in the Holy Bible on Divine healing to see what God says there.

Then the child of God would discover that Divine healing belongs to him as his right because he is joined to Christ who died to take away not just our sins but ALL our sicknesses and diseases – Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24.

The child of God would then take these and other scriptures on Divine healing to God in prayer, first thank God for it and then ask God to honour His Word concerning Divine healing in his life.

This is the sensible way to pray, dear friend and child of God.

Is there someone troubling you? what does God say concerning such things? Study His Word to find out and then take it to God in prayer.

Do you have a difficult spouse? What does God’s Word say concerning such things? Study His Word to find out and then take it to God in prayer.

This is the sensible way to pray. Don’t just start praying ignorantly to God on any issue whatsoever without first taking time to study God’s Word to know what it says before praying.

This is the very reason the Lord Jesus says in today’s lead Holy Bible text above that when you abide in Him (Jesus) and His Words abide in you, then you shall ask WHATEVER YOU DESIRE and God would gladly give it to you to prove you as His child and for God’s honour and glory.

This is the way to get all your prayers answered dear friend.

When you obey God because you know His Word through study, meditation and speaking, God would always give you what you need and you are assured of a victorious life in Christ right here on this earth and an entry into heaven to be with Christ forever when you depart this world.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word this day, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL VIOLENCE IN PEOPLE?

Hebrews 12:14 (AMPC)  “ Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration  and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.”   Dear people of God, I read sometime in December 2019 ago of a police inspector in Nigeria who shot and killed his colleague, a corporal, and the same shot injured another colleague, a deputy Superintendent of police after which the police inspector took his own life.   What could have led to such violence?   I also read of another unfortunate story of a lady killed December 25, 2019, Christmas Day, by her husband who had beaten her to a coma and then ran away after discovering what he had done. GOD CANNOT VIOLATE HIS WORD

  Psalm 89:34  “My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.” Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text in Psalm 89:34 is a profound statement by God Almighty and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What this statement from God means is that there is nothing He has said in His Word that He will fail to perform.
