WHY GOOD FRIDAY?

“When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, It is finished! And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.”

Dear people of God, yesterday, Friday April 19, 2019, Christians all over the world commemorated the Greatest Event that ever took place on this earth. It is on this day, some 1,985 years ago that Jesus Christ the Son of Almighty God and our Creator shed His precious blood and gave up His life for the sins of the entire world.

It was a day when the Lord Himself was barbarically brutalized by His own creatures, humans He Himself created!

These humans thought they were simply making mockery of the Saviour of the world, not realizing they were taking part in fulfilling a Great Plan God Almighty instituted at the Garden of Eden when He passed judgement on Adam, Eve and the serpent in their role of disobedience to God’s commandment not to eat the forbidden fruit.

With that act of disobedience, sin and death came into the world with satan holding sway and causing great terror and pain in the lives of humans but God promised to redeem mankind from the consequence of the sinful act of disobedience.

It is for this reason that the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is also God, left His Glorious Throne in Heaven and came into this world to die for our sins.

So why is it called Good Friday when we read from the Bible how it is that the Lord Himself suffered so much pain at the hands of His own creatures?

I will enumerate the reasons why it is called Good Friday as follows:

(1)  On this day when the Lord Jesus had to shed His precious blood and die for the sins of mankind, it was a clear demonstration of God’s immeasurable love for humans, His greatest creation.

(2)  By His death, Jesus reconciled mankind back to God spiritually because the disobedience and sin at the Garden of Eden had separated man spiritually from God and all humans are descendants of Adam and Eve our first parents and are born into this world with a fallen nature tending to sin.

(3)  When Jesus said “it is finished” and gave up His spirit as recorded above in John 19:30 in today’s lead Holy Bible reading, He was making a clear proclamation that His mission on this earth was complete and there was nothing else to be done by mankind to reconcile themselves back to God. The mission was done.

(4)  Jesus by this act of death on the cross destroyed all works of satan and reclaimed the authority man lost at the beginning to satan by disobedience and restored all mankind to life.

(5)  With man’s authority over satan restored back to him by God, satan can no longer hold sway and cause irreparable damage in the affairs of man unless man deliberately and ignorantly allows satan to so do.

(6)  With Jesus’ victory on the Cross of Calvary over all works of satan, mankind now also has victory over sin or spiritual death, all sickness, poverty and all manners of spiritual afflictions of satan.

It is ignorance of item (6) above that makes humans continue to suffer from satan and his agents.

However, any human being who by the special grace of God comes to understand, believe, accept and action this Truth of God’s Word I am stating here in today’s post would always experience and achieve victory over satan and his agents.

This is why the day is called Good Friday. This is also why the Lord Jesus Christ has commanded His followers, the Christians, who have come to this understanding and are now enjoying the victory over satan found only in Christ Jesus to go and share it with others who are yet to know through Evangelism.

This is why this message of Christ Jesus shared through Evangelism is called the Gospel or Good News. I tell you categorically that you cannot enjoy or experience these immense benefits when you are outside Christ or when you disobey Him if you become His follower as a Christian.

I therefore invite you, dear friend reading this message to come to Jesus Christ our Lord and experience these benefits yourself.

I also use this opportunity to warn and advise all Christians who are still compromising their faith through sin and disobedience to God’s commands in the Holy Bible to make amends immediately, repent and return to the Lord Jesus Christ before it is too late for you.

For those who are outside Christ and think they don’t need Him, I tell you the Truth, which is that you cannot escape Christ because He is the One Who will judge all mankind, living and dead, when the Judgement Day comes when the works of all human beings would be scrutinized against God’s Word in the Holy Bible.

Those who are found wanting would face eternal damnation with satan in HELL in the second death while those who are cleared would enter into eternal life in Heaven forever with Christ Jesus.

The message is clear. The warning is clear. The benefits are clear. Is there anything else preventing you from coming now to enjoy the beauty of what your Creator Christ Jesus accomplished for you at the Cross of Calvary?

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word this day, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL VIOLENCE IN PEOPLE?

Hebrews 12:14 (AMPC)  “ Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration  and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.”   Dear people of God, I read sometime in December 2019 ago of a police inspector in Nigeria who shot and killed his colleague, a corporal, and the same shot injured another colleague, a deputy Superintendent of police after which the police inspector took his own life.   What could have led to such violence?   I also read of another unfortunate story of a lady killed December 25, 2019, Christmas Day, by her husband who had beaten her to a coma and then ran away after discovering what he had done. GOD CANNOT VIOLATE HIS WORD

  Psalm 89:34  “My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.” Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text in Psalm 89:34 is a profound statement by God Almighty and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
