IS JESUS THE LORD OF YOUR LIFE?
Luke 6:46-49, “Why do you call Me, Lord, Lord, and do not
[practice] what I tell you?
47 For
everyone who comes to Me and listens to My Words [in order to heed their
teaching] and does them, I will show you what he is like:
48 He
is like a man building a house, who dug and went down deep and laid a
foundation upon the rock; and when a flood arose, the torrent broke against
that house and could not shake or
move it, because it had been securely built or founded on a rock.
49 But
he who merely hears and does not practice doing My Words is like a man who
built a house on the ground without a foundation, against which the torrent
burst, and immediately it collapsed and
fell, and the breaking and
ruin of that house was great.”
A number of Christians do not understand the difference
between Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Jesus Christ as their Lord.
As Saviour, Jesus died to rescue us from all control and
dominion of the powers of darkness- Colossians 1:13 (AMPC) and He gave
authority IN HIS NAME over every power of satan and his agents – Luke 10:19.
Jesus died for our sins and took our place to save us from
the consequences of sin (eternal damnation in HELL) and effects of sin –
sorrow, anguish, poverty, pain.
Jesus took our sins to give us righteousness – 1 Peter 2:24a;
He took our infirmities and diseases to give us divine health ALWAYS until we
depart this world – 1 Peter 2:24c; Matthew 8:17.
Jesus took our poverty to give us wealth – 2 Corinthians 8:9.
All these He accomplished as our Saviour.
As Lord, Jesus in turn demands that we obey every command of
His in the Holy Bible without exception and without question – an unflinching obedience
born out of gratitude for the immense love He first showed us as Saviour and
faith in Him never to disappoint us as He has promised in His Word in Hebrews
13:5.
Therefore, for Jesus to be our Lord, we must, without any
attached condition reciprocate our love for Him by total submission and
obedience to His Divine will for us as contained in His Word in the Holy Bible.
Now, this is where many get it wrong and especially the false
preachers of the doctrine of eternal security, who erroneously and deliberately
preach falsehood that once you are saved in Christ Jesus, you can begin to live
in sin again and God would always overlook it because each time God looks at
you, God sees what Jesus accomplished for us at the Cross of Calvary.
If this doctrine were true, then the Truth of obedience without
compromise or sin that Jesus demands of Christians as Lord of our lives would
certainly not hold.
Therefore, those who propagate the false doctrine of eternal
security are clearly in error.
Dear friend, I want you to carefully consider all I have
stated above and you would see even from today’s lead Holy Bible text, that
this is simply the Truth I have stated here.
Jesus must be Saviour of your life and Lord of your life as
well. Yes, we are saved by grace and not by works so that no one can boast.
However, it is our visible works in private and public that
determines whether Jesus is Lord of our lives or not.
Let us examine another
Scripture in 1 John 3:7-10 (AMPC), “Boys (lads), let no one
deceive and lead you
astray. He who practices righteousness [who is upright, conforming to the
divine will in purpose, thought, and action, living a consistently
conscientious life] is righteous, even as He (Jesus Christ) is righteous.
8 [But]
he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his
character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine
law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible)
was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].
9 No
one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices
sin, for God's nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm,
remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is
born (begotten) of God.
10 By
this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take
their nature from the devil and are
his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform
to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who
does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ).”
To avoid and clear any doubts, all wrong doing is sin – 1 John
5:17a.
I need not say much at this point because this Scripture is
clear. Therefore, judge for yourself whether or not Jesus is the Lord of your
life using God’s Word as your reference Resource to review your present
lifestyle.
A word is enough for the wise.
May the good Lord bless
you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous
Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
