SEEK GOD AND LIVE

There is a common saying that every human being has 3 basic needs, which are:

(1)        Food
(2)        Shelter
(3)        Clothing

Let us see what the Lord tells us in Amos 5:4 (AMPC), “For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: Seek Me [inquire for and of Me and require Me as you require food] and you shall live!”

God says the house of Israel should seek Him, as they require food for their body, and they shall live.

Someone may argue and say but the message is addressed to the Israelites. Yes, the Israelites are descendants or seed of Abraham as we understand.

However, all Christians are also seed of Abraham by virtue of being joined to the Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in God’s Word in Galatians 3:29.

With that understanding in mind, the next question is, how are we to seek God as we require food so we can live?

We are to seek God with all our hearts, spirit, soul, and body. Now, the food for the soul is spiritual food, which is the Word of God.

It is believed that the human body can go without solid food for up to 60 days. However, this depends on factors such as the person’s environment temperature and the will to live.

As physical food would save the body from collapsing and physical death, so spiritual food would save the soul from collapse and spiritual death.

In fact, spiritual food for the soul is more important because we are spirit beings living in a physical body.

When a person becomes a born again Christian, it is the person’s spirit that is renewed. The soul (mind, will and emotions) and body do not become born again.

However, the soul is in dire need of spiritual food or God’s Word for subsistence and growth spiritually.

It is written in James 1:21, “So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which IMPLANTED AND ROOTED [in your hearts] contains the POWER TO SAVE YOUR SOULS.”

So we see here that it is the implanted and rooted Word of God in a person’s heart that contains the power to save the person’s soul.

God’s Word becomes implanted and rooted in a person’s heart through constant, deliberate and scheduled study, meditation, declaration and action, for the heart speaks what the mouth is full of – Luke 6:45.

Dear friend, we are to seek God through His Word in the Holy Bible as we have seen from information stated in today’s post.

The Word of God is spiritual food for the soul and when the Word of God becomes rooted and implanted in a person’s heart, it contains the power to save the person’s soul.

This is why God says we should seek Him (as we seek food) and live.

Come to God today and now through the Lordship of Jesus Christ, for tomorrow may be too late for you.

When you have done so, then ask God to guide you through His Holy Spirit to study, understand, meditate on His Word in the Holy Bible, obey and do exactly what the Word says so you can live spiritually and gain total victory in every area of your life and enter eternal life with Christ Jesus.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Precious Name, Amen.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL VIOLENCE IN PEOPLE?

Hebrews 12:14 (AMPC)  “ Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration  and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.”   Dear people of God, I read sometime in December 2019 ago of a police inspector in Nigeria who shot and killed his colleague, a corporal, and the same shot injured another colleague, a deputy Superintendent of police after which the police inspector took his own life.   What could have led to such violence?   I also read of another unfortunate story of a lady killed December 25, 2019, Christmas Day, by her husband who had beaten her to a coma and then ran away after discovering what he had done. GOD CANNOT VIOLATE HIS WORD

  Psalm 89:34  “My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.” Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text in Psalm 89:34 is a profound statement by God Almighty and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What this statement from God means is that there is nothing He has said in His Word that He will fail to perform.
