ARE YOU PREPARED FOR HEAVEN?
The Word of God tells Christians in Philippians 3:20 (AMPC), “But we are citizens of
the state (commonwealth, homeland) which is in heaven, and from it also we
earnestly and patiently await [the coming of] the Lord Jesus Christ (the
Messiah) [as] Savior,”
It is therefore amazing when I read or listen to comments by
some Christians who behave as though they would live here on this earth
forever.
When you mention the fact that the return of the Lord Jesus
Christ is imminent, some would even argue that they have been hearing that
statement for so long and till now it is yet to happen.
What does the Bible say about
God’s patience with mankind? Let us see 2 Peter 3:8-9, “Nevertheless,
do not let this one fact escape you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as
a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. [Ps. 90:4.]
9 The
Lord does not delay and is
not tardy or slow about
what He promises, according to some people's conception of slowness, but He is
long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any
should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.”
The way some Christians behave shows that they neither know
nor understand what is expected of them as God’s children.
A Christian’s major preoccupation here on this earth is to
prepare for heaven, which is his final home. Now, how is he to do that?
First of all, a Christian must understand that this world is
a temporary place and so he must not entangle him unnecessarily with the
affairs of this world the way we see some pursuing zealously after wealth to
the detriment of their salvation, rather than pursue zealously after God their
Creator.
The Christian must understand that God has saved him and not
he that saved himself, so he must always be conscious of this fact and deliberately
and diligently pursue a genuine relationship with God Who ALONE is able to meet
all the Christian’s needs – Matthew 6:33-34.
The Christian should cooperate with God in total obedience without
compromise to God’s commands in the Holy Bible, and then share with lost souls
out there the Gospel or Good News of Repentance and Salvation found only in
Christ Jesus.
The Christian must study God’s Word, meditate on it to know
what is expected of him and obey what it says. This way, God would minister to
the Christian through His Holy Spirit and equip the Christian with information to
pass during Evangelism to lost souls.
The Christian must understand that anyone living in sin can
have his or her life at any age truncated by the devil and so a Christian
cannot afford to compromise his or her Christian faith for whatever reason.
Dear friend, do not get carried away by happenings around the
world today to make you think or believe that God is not in charge. God’s Word
is clear that the last days in which we currently live in would be filled with distress
with so many challenges and unpleasant experiences.
A number of Christians who are ignorant of this fact would
fall away to the deceit of satan and his agents and would eventually enter an
eternal damnation in HELL.
I know you do not want to experience that because it is a
regrettable experience that one would never come out of unfortunately.
So you must be prepared for heaven always. You must never
give up. Do not act like a person who has lost all hope because our hope is always
and forever in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Always remember that God has told us that He would never
abandon us – Hebrews 13:5.
May the good Lord bless
you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Merciful
Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
