TALK IS EXPENSIVE, NOT CHEAP
Mark 11:22-23 (KJV)
“22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, that whosoever
shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he
saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
Dear people of
God, there are a number of sayings used in everyday common conversation that
when reviewed against the Truth of God’s Word shows clearly that they are
wrong.
A typical example
is when people say “talk is cheap.” Those who say this are actually saying that
action should follow talk and not just talk for the sake of talking.
In today’s
lead Holy Bible text above, the Lord Jesus has told us clearly that whatsoever
we declare with our mouths and believe in our hearts shall come to pass.
The truth is,
a human can only declare with his mouth what is in his or her heart. This is so
because the Lord Jesus in warning us to be careful about the words we speak
also says out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks – Matthew 12:34b
With this
background information, dear friend, you would see that the words you speak out
of your mouth is very important and determines the direction of your life
because you cannot speak out of your mouth what you have not first thought
about in your heart, even if you were angry before saying it.
This is why it
is also said that words are like a broken egg that you cannot take back once
spoken.
For you to
speak the right words, it is certain that you must necessarily have the right
thoughts. Where do thoughts come from? They come from your mind.
Your mind is
of one of 3 items of your soul, the other 2 being your will and emotion. How
then do you ensure you have the right thoughts come out of your mind every
single time to enable you speak the right words every time?
God’s Word
tells us that the only resource that contains the power to save the soul (mind,
will and emotion) is the engrafted or implanted Word of God – James 1:21.
What does it
mean when we say the engrafted or implanted Word of God? It means the Word of
God that is acquired through diligent and consistent study and meditation of
the Holy Bible.
The Word of
God does not become engrafted or implanted just by superficial reading as a
story book or in Sunday school or Sunday service.
It is a
committed decision to create time daily at a particular time of the day to
study God’s Word, consider it through meditation and obtain the lessons therein
through connection with the Holy Spirit.
It cannot come
in any other way – not by prayer, not by worship and not by fasting.
These
activities are good in their own right and very important in the life of a
Christian but they are not the means of God’s Word getting implanted or rooted
in your soul.
When God’s
Word becomes rooted in your soul, then you would observe that your thinking
changes to align every single time with what God says. Your speaking also
changes because every time you speak, it is the Word of God on your mind that
drives the speech.
And as the
Lord Jesus has said, you shall have whatsoever you say. Then you would
understand and begin to speak ONLY those things that you want to see in your
life and nothing and no one can stop it from manifesting physically because you
shall have WHATSOEVER you say.
Dear friend,
you can see that talk is not cheap but expensive. So many people and Christians
today are where they are in life because of the wrong words they speak daily
because you shall have WHATSOEVER you say.
The more you
complain about how difficult life is, how the government or your poor dad or
difficult uncle or aunt or sibling is the cause of your problems, the more your
life takes the direction of your complaint because you shall HAVE WHATSOEVER
you say.
This is
exactly the way satan wants Christians to behave so that they can accuse a
loving God Whose blessings is available to every genuine child of His who has
accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
Christians
must understand this simple but very important point because it is key to their
lives changing for the best.
God has given
us everything in His Word but Christians fail to realise these covenant
promises because they do not understand the spiritual connection between their
thoughts, words and physical manifestation.
If your life
must change for best, then do as God’s Word has recommended in the preceding
paragraphs of today’s message.
Finally, I
want to draw your attention to the Lord’s warning that again shows that talk is
expensive and not cheap. Consider carefully what the Lord says in Matthew
12:36-37 (NKJV), “But
I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of
it in the day of judgment.
37For
by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
As you have
seen today, talk is not cheap as people say, for not only would you have WHATSOEVER
you say, but you shall give account of it on Judgement Day when we shall all
individually face the Lord Jesus Christ to account for our lives here on earth.
A Word is
enough for the wise.
May the
good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others
in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
Gabriel
Ama.
