CASTING YOUR CARES UPON THE LORD
What does it mean to cast your cares upon the Lord? What does
God’s Word say about this?
Let us examine 1 Peter 5:7 (AMPC), “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries,
all your concerns, once and for all] on Him (Jesus Christ), for He cares for
you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.”
This looks so simple, doesn’t it? But I can tell you that it is one of
the most difficult tasks for a human being to undertake, which is, living a
worry-free life.
Even when as a Christian you try to live such a life, the people around
you – family, relatives, friends, neighbours, acquaintances would all believe
that something is wrong with you because you do not worry over anything in
life.
I recall many years ago when a friend’s sister saw me walking one day and
told me that I carried myself like someone without a care in the world.
I was a teenager but I really had no cares back then even though I had
not become born again and never had the kind of understanding of God’s Word
that He has given me.
I had lost my father and depended on my mum for what she could do for me
but I was focused in life on what I wanted to achieve so I worked hard at it.
Looking back at that incident now, I realise it was the right
thing to do.
When you pray to God over a matter and still worry about it,
it means you have not obeyed God’s Word to cast your cares over to Him.
It means you are still holding on to the matter and don’t
ever expect that God would answer your prayer when you operate that way, which
is contrary to His Word above.
Please note that casting your cares upon the Lord does not
mean you should never have any plan for your life or live a careless life because
that would also mean living a dangerous life of unseriousness and you would
surely pay dearly for it in future.
What God is telling us here is that we should not fret or get
overly excited over any matter because when you become His child having
repented of sin, confessed and forsaken sin, accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord
and Saviour and you are living in righteous obedience to God’s commandments in
the Holy Bible, you have become God’s responsibility.
God cannot fail to provide your needs when you obey Him. You must
live right, you must pay tithes and you must trust God to give you what is your
right in Christ Jesus as far as His Word is concerned – Ephesians 1:3;
Galatians 3:29.
Dear friend, what concern do you currently have as a child of
God? Cast it over to God as He has advised.
Worry, anxiety, doubt, fear and unbelief are sins that many
Christians today engage in without realising it.
When you engage in any of these sinful habits, you have
opened the door to satan and given satan a LEGAL right over your life and you
can be sure that satan would perform his enterprise over you, cause you pain
and hardship and until you do what God says in His Word, there is nothing God
would do for you no matter how much you cry and lament to God over your situation.
If this is your current habit, you MUST repent today and ask
God to forgive you. Then you MUST make up your mind never to indulge in this
sinful habit but to obey God’s Word and do what it says.
Then hand over ALL (NOT SOME OF) your cares to God and thank
Him for answering your prayers. Just be sure that the Mighty Hand of God
Almighty and Father of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ would come over you and
your situation would change for best.
May the good Lord bless
you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous
Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
